This article outlines the suggestion of critical-thinking and problem-solving into method to teach English reading to Indonesian EFL students. Since both terms could be elusively conceived by broad members of English language teacher or instructor and also the increasing demand of advance English proficiency, it could be perceived that picking up critical-thinking and problem-solving into teaching English reading in the EFL classroom would benefit to both teachers and students’ classroom achievement regarding to their distinguished purposes on the language ability. The study was conducted through reviewing a number of literatures outlining the implementation of the method in teaching English reading in the EFL classrooms. Moreover, the study also investigated the strengths and the weaknesses of the implementation of the method looked up through the vary of variables and cases on its implementation. It could be expected that this article could propose an idea to teaching English more effectively, efficiently, and advancing teachers and students’ level of English language competence
Introduction: Handling the remained body affected by COVID-19 in Indonesia is still an issue as it is done by community. Aim: This study aims to explore the handlers knowledge, perception, and practice in handling the remains. Method: This study elaborates qualitative design in exploring the handlers knowledge, perception, and practice in handling the remains dealing with universal precaution during the handling of the deceased body of COVID-19. The data is obtained through in-depth interview with guides. Result: The majority of participants were acknowledged that the universal precaution is a precautionary conduct which remains general and non-technical. Technicality on the universal precaution such as personal protective equipment and safety standards for infectious substance on the dead body are still incomprehensive. The perception of each handler of the body is still obscure. It was showed by cautious/apprehensive sense predominated the handlers in handling the dead body. Conclusion: Improving the knowledge and strengthening the network of the handlers among the community play an important role in interrupting the chain of transmission of COVID-19 in the community.
The role of English as the major language in the world has been impacting language policy in non-English speaking countries, including policy on scientific publication. Scholars are urged to access English sources. This study aimed to qualitatively explore Islamic economic students’ perceptions about referencing their academic works with sources written in English. The data were obtained through interviewing the students and were analyzed descriptively. The majority of students did not refer to English-written sources. There are several factors which limit them in doing so, despite its importance and even though most of the participants have access to the sources. Keywords: Academic works. This study aimed to determine the English-language public health literacy of public health students. Literacy of public health constitutes proficiency and application of complex skills such as reading, critical and analytical thinking, listening and decisionmaking skills about emerging health situations. We used a quantitative approach with cross-sectional research to investigate the extent of English-language public health literacy among first year public health students. There were 110 participants in this study, all of whom were first year students of the Faculty of Public Health/ Public Health Study Program in North Sumatra Province and more than half were 18 years old with the sex dominated by women. The English-language public health literacy was quite high while students had limitations in understanding the content and main ideas of the articles they read. Students tended to hesitate to disseminate and explain information because they were not confident in their literacy skills. These findings can be used as material for English language curriculum evaluation and competency adjustment of public health students at college level. There are several ways to teach Psycholinguistics. Even though, there are many ways or theories in teaching and learning to increase students’ achievement in learning Psycholinguistics but not all of those theories and ways are successes. This research will find out the effective way to teach Psycholinguistics for Department of English Educational students of Faculty of Tarbiyah Science and Teacher Training of State Islamic University North Sumatra (UIN-SU) Medan. Each member of a team is responsible not only for learning what is taught but also for helping teammates learn, thus creating an atmosphere of achievement. The aims of this research: to know the students’ difficulties in learning Psycholinguistics, to know how is the lecturer implement Students Centered Learning (SCL) Strategy in teaching learning process special for teaching Psycholinguistics, and to know if there significance effect of Students Centered Learning (SCL) Strategy on students’ achievement in learning Psycholinguistics or not. The subjects and objects of product trials on an expanded scale will be given to students of the English department study program FITK UIN North Sumatra Medan. The type of quantitative data, using a Likert scale questionnaire instrument was used to collect data. The validity test analysis technique uses the Aiken and Cronbach Alpha formulas for reliability. The research will produce articles published in reputable national or international journals and Intellectual Property Rights (HaKI), which are empirically proven to be valid, practical and effective.
