International entrepreneurship is an incipient research area with a rapidly increasing body of knowledge and contributions. An important part of this literature has focused on the analysis of the contributing factors to IE development. From these studies, this work attempts to analyse and validate through an integrative model the effect on this construct in SME of some of the main factors proposed by the literature such as Skills and Competences, Attitude and Proactiveness, Creativity and Innovation, Networking, Employees and Activity. To proceed with this aim, we conducted an empirical research focused on 174 textile SME in Spain. The results obtained confirm a positive relationship between the studied factors and the IE development. In consequence, this work agrees with previous literature that point out the need to use multi-theoretical perspectives, combining multiple factors.
The development and growth of tourism depends on its sustainability over time and on its benefits for destinations as a whole. However, calculating sustainability is not an easy task. The aim of this article is to focus on the economic sustainability of tourism growth and, after an exhaustive review of literature, to propose a quantitative mathematical model to measure it by analyzing and calculating leakage in the hotel sector. Leakage analyzes the amount of revenue generated by tourists which does not stay in the destination. Through a sample of 204 interviews with managers, this study validates the model created and calculates leakage in a mass tourism destination (Valencian Region, Spain). Our paper opens new areas of research in sustainability literature and, as it provides orientations to outcomes for policy, it is of great value to tourism planners and governments in their tasks to implement appropriate tourism development policies.
This article studies how knowledge management (KM) practices improve human capital. We conceptualize KM practices through six dimensions and test the relationship between each dimension and human capital. The empirical study which was carried out in Spanish firms belonging to the biotechnology and telecommunications industries shows that introducing KM practices has a positive impact on the improvement of human capital. In fact, firms that introduce practices related to continuous learning and the development of an innovative culture that encourages R&D projects improve the skills or abilities of their human capital.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
