The COVID-19 Outbreak has shifted the way education is delivered to students from conventional ways in the classroom to online interaction, requiring the use of ICT tools to assist teachers in online learning which can be a challenge for boomers as a generation who were born before the rapid development of technology. Using narrative approach, this study aimed at exploring the experiences and perceptions of eight boomer teachers who conducted online learning during this pandemic in three junior high schools in Klungkung regency. The findings revealed that from eight teachers, four teachers perceived that online learning in this pandemic was difficult to do as they admitted that they were not familiar with ICT tools; two teachers perceived that online learning as a chance to enhance the teachers' and students' technology literacy; and two teachers admitted conventional face-to-face meetings as the best teaching method. While all eight teachers deemed online class as a positive change, they admitted that there were challenges to tackle, namely students' accessibility, and adjustment of time allocation from conventional to online teaching. This implies that boomers need trainings on using ICT tools and how to choose and use online learning platforms, as well as strategies to adjust time allocation for each learning goals to improve the quality of online learning, so the learning objectives are achieved well.
The purpose of the study is to improve students’ reading comprehension of narrative text using Picture and Picture. This study is delimited on using picture and picture in teaching reading comprehension in Narrative Text to the first year student of SMK Santa Familia Tomohon. In this research, the researchers use quantitative research. Where quantitative research is used to obtain and to collect the data in the form of numbers, through Pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test. Based on the explanation of previous chapters, it can be concluded that; picture and picture technique is effective to improve students’ reading comprehension, teaching reading comprehension by using picture and picture can help student improving their comprehension in reading and increase their cooperation to develop the other language skills. Then, the result of this research shows that the students’ score in Post-test is higher than their score in Pre-test. It means that Picture and Picture technique in teaching reading comprehension is effective. Therefore, it is suggested to apply Picture and picture technique in class related to the situation and material that is going to be taught in school to improve more about students’ skill not only in group but also personally. In the current era of adapting new habits (abbreviated as Adaptasi Kebiasaan Baru or AKB), it is an opportunity for the millennial generation to get out of their ‘cage’ and do activities outside the home. This study aims to describe the perception of the millennial generation on the application of adopting new habits during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was conducted using a survey research method with descriptive analysis techniques to obtain this description. In this research, millennials are represented by state university students in North Sulawesi Province. The sample of this study was 400 active student respondents. The data was collected through research instruments sent online with the Google Forms application. The study results indicate that millennials are worried when implementing new habit adaptations when they are active outside the home. The research results also show that the first thing they want to do is go to a house of worship. Millennials in North Sulawesi also perceive an excellent level of trust in local and central governments in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. It can be concluded that millennials in North Sulawesi are optimistic about their future sustainability.
Perkembangan zaman yang begitu cepat akibat derasnya arus globalisasi membawa dampak positif pada perkembangan dunia pariwisata, termasuk di Indonesia. Masyarakat Ekonomi Asean sudah mulai diberlakukan sejak akhir 2015 membuat persaingan tenaga kerja semakin ketat. Masyarakat Ekonomi ASEAN (MEA) menuntut pentingnya keahlian para pekerja dari semua sektor. Para tukang ojek tanpa disadari merupakan bagian tak terpisahkan dari perkembangan pariwisata. Permasalahan kemudian muncul ketika disadari bahwa bahasa Inggris merupakan bahasa yang dibutuhkan ketika para tukang ojek hendak melayani para turis asing yang datang ke kota Tomohon. Untuk itu, dilaksanakan suatu pelatihan berbahasa Inggris bagi para tukang ojek di Kelurahan Matani dalam mempersiapkan diri menghadapi para turis asing yang membutuhkan jasa mereka.
