Obesity is a metabolic disease that is caused by a lack of physical activity and is associated with an increased risk of chronic inflammation. A total of 40 obese adolescent females with an average age of 21.93 ± 1.35 years and average body mass index (BMI) of 30.81 ± 3.54 kg/m2 were enrolled in this study, randomized, and divided into four groups, i.e., control (CTL; n = 10), moderate intensity aerobic training (MAT; n = 10), moderate intensity resistance training (MRT; n = 10), and moderate intensity combined aerobic–resistance training (MCT; n = 10). The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits method was used to analyze the adiponectin and leptin levels between pre-intervention and post-intervention. Statistical analysis was conducted using a paired sample t-test, while correlation analysis between variables used the Pearson product–moment correlation test. Research data showed that MAT, MRT, and MCT significantly increased adiponectin levels and decreased leptin levels compared to the CTL (p ≤ 0.05). The results of the correlation analysis of delta (∆) data showed that an increase in adiponectin levels was significantly negatively correlated with a decrease in body weight (BW) (r = −0.671, p ≤ 0.001), BMI (r = −0.665, p ≤ 0.001), and fat mass (FM) (r = −0.694, p ≤ 0.001) and positively correlated with an increase in skeletal muscle mass (SMM) (r = 0.693, p ≤ 0.001). Whereas, a decrease in leptin levels was significantly positively correlated with a decrease in BW (r = 0.744, p ≤ 0.001), BMI (r = 0.744, p ≤ 0.001), and FM (r = 0.718, p ≤ 0.001) and negatively correlated with an increase in SMM (r = −0.743, p ≤ 0.001). In summary, it can be concluded that our data show that adiponectin levels increased and leptin levels decreased after the intervention of aerobic, resistance, and combined aerobic–resistance training.
Fast-growing shopping centers have a good impact on the economy in Indonesia. The large Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and opening up wide employment opportunities is a form of the shopping center’s contribution. The increasing number of shopping centers makes competition between shopping centers, especially small shops or retail stores a threat that cannot be underestimated for shop owners. One of the important strategies that can be applied to a store by store owners is to design a store atmosphere. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of store atmosphere on behavioral intentions at Hakata & Co retail stores in Mataram city with customer emotion as an intervention variable. This study used a quantitative approach technique. The data collection technique was by distributing offline and online questionnaires to 60 respondents less than 15 years old to more than 35 years old and had come and or shopped at the Hakata & Co store. Diarrhea, or as Indonesians usually refer it as mencret, is defined as defecation more than three times per day along with a change in the consistency of the stool to liquid with or without mucus and blood. There exist various causes of diarrhea in Indonesia, both viral and bacterial. The main pathogen causing diarrhea in our country is Rotavirus (40-60%), followed by Escherichia coli bacteria (20-30%), and the rest is dominated by other microorganisms (10-20%). Based upon previous research, probiotics and prebiotics have been shown to have potential in preventing and treating diarrhea caused by various pathogenic microorganisms. Probiotics are supplemented live bacteria that have a beneficial response on the health of human digestive organs by improving the balance of normal gut flora, whereas prebiotics are substrates that are not to be digested by the intestines, but instead bring benefits to the health of human digestive system that selectively stimulate the growth and activity of good bacteria in the gut. Bananas apparently contain a source of prebiotics that we are rarely aware of. The probiotic content of inulin and fructooligosaccharides (FOS) in bananas plays an important role in nourishing and stimulating the growth of probiotic bacteria. Accordingly, they are also considered "colonic foods" for the natural flora of the intestine. Fermented milk products, such as yogurt, have the benefir of inhibiting gastrointestinal infections. Aside from the aforementioned benefits, yogurt also contains anticancer effects, lowers blood cholesterol levels, and stimulates the immune system. The beverage innovation called "YOPI EN NUNO", which of this is a synbiotic banana yogurt with the addition of B. Lactis and L. rhamnosus GG bacterial starters has various advantageous potentials to prevent and treat acute diarrhea in children.
Indonesia is the 5th country with the highest premature birth rate in the world. Multifactorial complications in premature babies whose lungs are not yet fully developed in the form of respiratory distress syndrome, one of which is bronchopulmonary dysplasia, can hinder their growth and development in the future. Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (Bronchopulmonary dysplasia/BPD) is one of t he most common causes of morbidity in premature infants. Globally, the incidence of BPD varies widely from 10% -89%. Utilization of stem cells or stem cells has become one of the futuristic approaches in treating diseases related to tissue engineering. The study found that Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC/Mesenchymal Stem Cells) which are multipotent and have the ability to differentiate into cells derived from the mesoderm lineage, can be a renewable step in repairing tissues in the lungs, BPD is no exception. Compared to adult stem cells, the use of embryonic stem cells, especially Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC) from umbilical cord blood, has the potential to self-renewal and differentiate into several types of cells in an unlimited way. MSC from cord blood has advantages including, 1) easy collection process, 2) rapid proliferation, 3) fast processing at a relatively cheap price compared to other sources, 4) minimal risk of disease transmission and rejection, 5) and safer for mother and child. MSC transplantation has potential as a therapy for BPD by acting as a "paracrine factory" that can detect and respond to cues in the microenvironment and the site of injury. However, the potentia l of MSC in BPD still needs to be explored further considering its enormous benefits. There needs to be holistic collaboration between health workers and researchers so that this method can be realized. Further research on side effects, therapeutic doses, and long-term effects of therapy is expected to complement the challenges that are still present today.
Universities participate in realizing Indonesia's vision 2045 “The Indonesians who are excellent, civilized, and mastering science technology, to bring Indonesia as the center of science technology development in the Asia and the world”. It would need intense effort and synergy, considering the science literacy of Indonesian students was ranked the 10th lowest out of 79 countries in 2018. The innovation capacity is ranked 74 out of 141 countries. Research is an essential activity, encouraging the development of science technology. Research competency should be honed by high school students as part of scientific inquiry. Therefore, this community service was carried out in collaboration with FORISMA FK UNAIR, aimed to increase students’ understanding of the urgency, stages, and procedures of research as well as increase interest in research activities. It was also intended to develop their skills to compile and present research proposals. The partner was Raudlatul Jannah High School Sidoarjo. It was implemented through workshops, coaching, and presentations followed by the teachers and 11th-grade students. The whole activity successfully improved students' knowledge. Increased knowledge score was obtained in 83% of participants. The pre-test evaluation showed 88% of participants had poor knowledge, whilst post-test evaluations were predominantly good. This community service increased students’ interest in research and changed their perceptions of research’s importance. This improved students' capability to identify research problems, search and compile scientific references as a basis for building hypotheses and conceptual frameworks, and determine research methods. The four groups of students were able to produce research proposals of sufficient quality and were able to present and discuss them in the forum. This community service was perceived to help the school in the implementation of curriculum, especially in science literacy. The school was committed to deepening students' knowledge and skills in the field of scientific research by providing research project modules. This community service is part of the contribution of higher education to the achievement of the vision of Indonesia 2045. This can be a model of scientific inquiry learning in secondary education, thus it is necessary to be implemented in other high schools.
