Background and ObjectiveThe Ministry of Health (MoH) leads and organizes health policy in Kosovo, which includes procurement and provision of medicines, including anti-cancer medicines, which compose a special group of medicines. However, there has been limited analysis of the utilization and expenditure on anti-cancer medicines in Kosovo; consequently, the objective of this study is to undertake research to provide future guidance on the use of anti-cancer medicines.MethodNational drug utilization data is available in Kosovo. Utilization and expenditure on anti-cancer medicines [Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) code L], initially from 2011 to 2013, especially for anti-cancer medicines on the essential medicines list was analysed from national data. In addition, current systems for procuring and managing anti-cancer medicines in Kosovo was documented.ResultsThere was appreciable variability in the utilization of anti-cancer medicines over the years, with low or limited use of some anti-cancer medicines on the Essential Medicine List. This is a concern in view of their essential medicine status. From 2011 to 2013, €16.49 million was spent on anti-cancer medicines (ATC L). The process of selection of new medicines begins with suggestions from doctors at the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo.ConclusionThe analysis has shown appreciable variation with current utilization patterns for anti-cancer medicines in Kosovo. This needs to be addressed as part of improving the drug management process to optimize patient care within available resources. Future years and reforms need to be assessed to improve current utilization and expenditure patterns.
The study aimed to investigate the impact of class participation, and coursework on academic performance in the context of blended learning. A quasi-experimental research design and a database of students’ academic achievements to get secondary data were used in the study. A random cluster sample of students from the bachelor's degree program was taken. The study found that approximately 50.9% of the variance for the experimental group and 20.9% for the control group in academic performance can be explained or accounted for by class participation differences. It is also found that approximately 72.2% of the variance for the experimental group and 87.8% for the control group in academic performance can be explained or accounted for by coursework differences.
The Albanian lecturer's staff of Private and State Universities can vary enormously in their ability to teach effectively in years. European University of Tirana (Private University), has implemented many methods to measure this variation but one commonly used method is seen from UET Management staff as the most effective ones in using students' evaluation of lecturers' performance. For many decades, the outcome of students' evaluation of teaching performance is seen from UET Management as an important tool to measure the effectiveness of teaching quality, at the beginning this procedure was in hard copy evaluation process and since the last 2 years it was developed the lecturer online evaluation system, developed locally with a dedicated bachelor students team from economic of informatics profile. UET lecturers manage their day to day operation in their classrooms, and they need to know whether the implementation of their good effective teaching initiatives and strategies used are well received by their bachelor or master students. UET management and academic staff used the most suitable method to measure teaching effectiveness the students' evaluation of lecturers' performance, which is often carried out at the end of each semester of the actual academic year of the European University of Tirana. At the end of this analyses the final report will reflect on qualities associated with good teaching such as lecturers' knowledge, the most updated syllabuses and texts used for teaching, better class management and course organization. The development of this application is done based on the platform of Apache/MySQl/PHP (AMP). The whole platform is working actually on the UET Intranet environment (first phase) and will be developed the second version of this application (second phase), where the application will be developed from master students of
The port process and computerization assessments completed for the ports of northern Adriatic, have shown the global importance of computerizing the processes implemented in the maritime-port-logistics cluster, and the absolute need to improve the level of automation in relationships between port operators and in the management of the document flows involved in these relationships. The assessments have shown what benefits could be within the port and over extended communications and data exchange network between the other ports from the implementation of an e-Platform for electronic data interchange capable of establishing communications between the various port computer systems in order to achieve coordination and integration and to promote the concept of "Single Window" with the aim of reducing transaction costs and operation turnaround time.In this paper is given the idea of implementing of e-Platform in the biggest Albanian port of Durres interconnecting the port information systems dedicated to the management of logistic processes and the benefits of it such as development of an accurate and upto-date port organization, port infrastructure and processes analysis among the ports of northern Adriatic and development of a joint market. The implementation of an e-Platform, which is the main objective of the ITS Adriatic multi-port gateway project, represents the ideal way to satisfy the needs for data interchange, communication and integration between the systems identified in the various assessments and for Albanian ports.
