Introduction. Nowadays, the widespread use of mobile learning applications has brought significant changes in education. This paper addresses the problem of using mobile learning applications for developing universal competencies among students. The purpose of the research is to assess the effectiveness of using mobile applications for the development of universal competencies in students. Materials and Methods. The data were collected through reviewing and critical analysis of research literature on the development of competencies among students of higher educational institutions and the use of information, computer and mobile technologies for educational purposes. The empirical study was conducted using methods of educational research from 2017 to 2019. The sample consisted of students in years 3-5 doing an undergraduate degree in Education. Methods of mathematical statistics were employed for processing empirical data (correlation analysis). Results. The paper presents the results of evaluating the effectiveness of using mobile applications for developing students’ universal competencies. The authors identified the indicators for assessing the development of the selected universal competencies. The authors examined the following stages of developing universal competences by means of using mobile learning applications: (1) knowledge and skills alignment in the field of using mobile learning applications; (2) demonstrating knowledge and skills of using mobile learning applications; (3) inclusion of mobile learning applications in studying various disciplines (modules); (4) using mobile learning applications as a part of a larger activity (group projects); (5) using mobile learning applications for academic assessment (self-evaluation). It is emphasized that it is necessary to purposefully include students' work with mobile applications in the educational process of the university, when a student, being an active participant in the educational process, uses mobile applications to master the content of the discipline, enhance competencies and evaluate them. Conclusions. The article concludes that characteristics of using mobile learning applications identified and described in this research facilitate the development of students’ universal competencies. The findings can be used to improve the efficiency of the educational process at the university. The article deals with the results of a theoretical analysis of the development of the industrious-ness of primary school students. The authors focus on the spiritual and moral education of the younger generation and basic national values, which are based on labor and creativity. The au-thors apply theoretical analysis and generalization of research literature on the development of students’ industriousness; modeling of the educational process for the industriousness develop-ment; theoretical and practical methods of pedagogical research involving the students of the 3rd and 4th years (2017-2019); methods of mathematical data processing. The results of the effec-tiveness of the implementation of the model of the development of the industriousness of primary school students into the educational process are presented in the article. The approaches to the formation of the students’ industriousness have been determined, representing a system of knowledge, skills, and abilities, which is mediated with the individual understanding of labor as a value. The criteria, indicators, and levels of this quality formation have been determined.
The relevance of the study is based on the fact that the program of socio-economic development focuses on the expansion of science-intensive production focused on information and digital technologies. Therefore, the demand in engineers for modern production becomes the social order of society. The purpose of the study was to develop a functional model of the engineering class at the university. This will create conditions for the training of school graduates aimed at obtaining technical education with a high level of natural science and technological training. The paper is devoted to the problem: what is the functional model of the engineering class at the university? The functional model of the engineering class for high school students includes functional and structural components that ensure the formation of competencies among schoolchildren necessary for a future student mastering an engineering educational program. The following abilities of high school students serve the indicators of the efficiency of the developed model: ability to formulate and argue their point of view; work individually and as part of a team; master information and communication technologies; readiness for continuing education at the university and self-education; possession of the fundamentals of systemic thinking.
