Objective: The purpose of study was to conduct a study on validity and reliability of Turkish version of the “Community Care Perceptions for Nursing Students”. Methods: This methodological study was conducted in two of the universities located in Istanbul with 386 students between the dates May and December in 2019. During the designation of the Turkish version of the scale back-translation method was utilized for the language adaptation. Validity was assessed as content and construct validity and the reliability was assessed as internal consistency, test-retest analysis. Content validity was evaluated with expert views, construct validity with confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency with Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient, test-retest results with Pearson’s Correlation analysis. Results: Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient was found as .94 and sub-dimensions ranged between .65-.88. Item total correlation was found over .20 excluding 26th, 28th items, test-retest correlation was calculated as .72. Content validity index was determined as .99. Confirmatory factor analysis was approved the structure of scale consisting of 33 items and 3 factors. Conclusions: Nursing Students’ Community Care Perceptions Scale was found to be valid and reliable. It may be used to assess community care perceptions of nursing students taking the course of community care nursing in Turkey.
Objective: The attitudes and knowledge level of individuals toward prostate cancer screening are important factors affecting participation in screening. This study aimed to determine the relationship between prostate cancer screening attitudes, beliefs, and knowledge levels of men working in a tertiary healthcare institution. Material and Methods: A total of 236 healthcare personnel working in a tertiary education and research hospital were included in the study. In the collection of data, an information form, the Health Beliefs Model Scale for Prostate Cancer Screenings (HBM-PCS), and the Knowledge About Prostate Cancer Screening Questionnaire (KPCSQ) were used. Results: The mean age of the men participating in the study was 46.7±5.9 years. Of the participants, 16.1% had previously undergone a prostate-specific antigen test, and 67.4% had a low level of knowledge. When the subscales of HBM-PCS were examined, the participants had a mean score of 12.6±3.8 on susceptibility perception, 11.9±3.6 on seriousness perception, 32.9±7.6 on health motivation perception, 38.5±10.3 on barrier perception, and 24.8±5.7 on benefit perception. There was no significant difference in the participants’ HBM-PCS scores according to their KPCSQ scores. Conclusion: It was determined that the men participating in this study had a low level of knowledge, moderate levels of susceptibility, seriousness, and barrier perceptions, and high levels of health motivation and benefit perceptions concerning prostate cancer screening. It is important to raise the awareness of healthcare workers about the benefits of screening and early diagnosis of prostate cancer through training programs. Objective: School nursing education has not been standardized in Turkey so that it was decided the Delphi technique would be used to develop a curriculum for a program of education in school nursing. Methods: The data were collected from the expert panel via the Delphi technique by means of e-mail. Data were collected in three consecutive Delphi rounds. The population of the study comprised academic nurses and school nurses working in the area of school nursing in Turkey. A total of 83 experts were invited to participate in the study. The data were evaluated in terms of Quartile 1, Quartile 3, medians, interquartile ranges. Interquartile range refers to the difference between Quartile 3 and 1. Consensus was considered as less than the interquartile range of 1.2. Results: At the end of Round-1, 177 learning outcomes, nine main topics, 262 sub-topics were obtained. At the end of Round-2, 167 learning outcomes, nine main and 255 sub-topics were gathered, while at the end of Round-3, agreement was reached regarding nine main topics, 255 sub-topics, 167 learning outcomes, thus ending the Delphi rounds. Conclusions: The curriculum on which agreement was reached will be treated as a guide to school nursing education and contribute to the standardization of this instruction.
