The relevance of the research topic is determined by the impact of cross-border cooperation projects and cross-border exchanges on the development and diversification of the economies of the neighboring countries' regions located in the immediate vicinity of the border. In addition, it is important to constantly assess the trends and dynamics of cross-border cooperation, reflecting changes in the foreign policy interaction of the Russian Federation and neighboring countries, in order to develop timely measures to enhance the positive effects or to minimize the negative consequences. The purpose of the research, the results of which are presented in the article, was to assess the dynamics of cross-border exchanges between residents of the Kaliningrad region and Poland after the abolition of the regime of small border movement and the strengthening of the barrier function of the border. To obtain author's conclusions, the methods of expert assessments, economic-statistical and factor analysis, economic and mathematical modeling were used. The novelty of the results of the research is that as a result of the carried-out studies, an author's assessment of the positive and negative impact of such movements and exchanges on the development of the economy of the border areas is given. The materials of the article are of scientific and practical value for scientists involved in the study of the development of cross-border links, administrations of the border territories of Russia and European countries, representatives of business, including tourism.
Regions where universities and research institutes are located are attracting a vast majority of international students. Providing appropriate conditions for the social and cultural adaptation for foreign students to a local culture and social environment of the universities is an urgent issue that requires attention with a scientific approach. In this research authors considered a number of factors affecting social and cultural adaptation of the foreign students. The factors are combined according to the framework of potential challenges: person-person, person-environment, person-educational organization. In order to overcome these challenges this research suggests a number of initiatives to allow for a successful adaptation of international students to the regional social and cultural environments.
The relevance of the research topic consists in the high dynamics and unpredictability of the factors that influence the development of tourism within cross-border cooperation. Because of the sanctions implementation against the Russian Federation, the number of cross-border cooperation projects has decreased, which has led to a decrease in the integrated tourist product competitiveness of neighboring territories. Thanks to the package implementation of state support measures for domestic tourism, this sector of the economy is developing steadily towards the Kaliningrad region due to the attraction of Russian tourists. However, the international potential of the region is practically not involved. Therefore, the study of the prospects for crossborder cooperation of the region with the countries of Europe is extremely important. To study these issues, the authors of the article used methods of economic-statistical and factor analysis, economic and mathematical modeling. As a result of the research, scientific and theoretical approaches to the definition of the essence of the notion of "competitiveness" were summarized and its features were substantiated in relation to the regional tourist product. The modern indicators of the competitiveness of the regional tourist product of the Kaliningrad region are determined; problems with ensuring its competitiveness are justified. A model is designed to ensure the competitiveness of the tourism product in the strategy of cross-border cooperation, which can be applied not only in relation to such projects in the Kaliningrad region, but also in other areas of the Russian Federation or other countries.
