Pendidikan vokasi pelayaran adalah pendidikan tinggi yang mempersiapkan peserta didik untuk pekerjaan dengan keahlian terapan tertentu dibidang pelayaran. Di era kemajuan teknologi informasi seperti sekarang ini, banyak sekali pengaruh-pengaruh baik maupun buruk yang berpotensi ditiru atau diikuti oleh para peserta didik. Pola pengasuhan yang tepat juga menjadi kunci penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan tata kelola pendidikan dan pengasuhan taruna dari semester I sampai dengan semester VIII di Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran (PIP) Semarang. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengambilan data penelitian melalui observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumen. Sedangkan analisis data penelitian menggunakan pola interaktif, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa tahap perencanaan tata kelola pengasuhan taruna PIP Semarang telah menerapkan pembinaan karakter dan kesamaptaan fisik taruna dan siswa yang berorientasi pada terwujudnya lulusan yang Prima, Profesional dan Beretika (GUNAWISISTA, NIMPUNA, SISTACARA). Simpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengasuhan taruna di PIP Semarang meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi yang dilaksanakan untuk mengawasi atau memonitor apakah pelaksanaan tata kelola pengasuhan taruna telah sesuai dengan tujuan yang ingin dicapai.
The concept of Indonesia as Global Maritime Nexus (GMN) in the appliance divided by 5 (five) sectors, which are culture, economy, connectivity, diplomacy and security. The competence of human resource, i.e: seafarer needs to be fixed, especially in the quality. The increasing of life necessities creates lot of seafarers and society choose instant method to make seafarer false certificate. Transportation Attache of Indonesian Embassy in Singapore as one of the important stakeholder in signing seaman book in Singapore area has important role to solve seafarer fraudulent certificate. This research has purpose to know the causes as well as the impact of fraudulent seafarer certificates around Singapore area, and to know the mechanism done by Transportation Attache of Indonesia Embassy in Singapore. This research used qualitative method. Observation, interview and literature studies are done to obtain the data. To test the data validity, researcher performed research-extension and triangulation method. The results of this research are: 1) the cause of fraudulent seafarer certificates is seafarers’ deviant social behaviour, the weak system of Indonesian seafarer online certification, and the opportunity and chance for seafarers to do fraud. 2) The impacts from this case are a lot of seafarers face hard time to find jobs in Singapore shipping companies, the lack of trust from abroad companies to recruit Indonesian seafarer, also blacklist toward Indonesian seafarers with certain ranks in several companies. 3) The efforts to solve this case are to strictly apply the monitoring and checking function along with Minister Instruction number 4 year 2018, to do issue verification with the related training institution and cooperate with State Cyber and Code Agency that is called Badan Standardisasi Siber Nasional (BSSN) to strengthen the security system of seafarer certification.
This research is aimed to find out the target and learning needs of Nautical students at PIP Semarang and designing the appropriate material for Nautical students at PIP Semarang. This is a Research and Development project. The steps of doing this research are (1) need analysis (2) make syllabus (3) designing materials (4) expert consultation (5) try out material (6) evaluation. The subject of this research is the third-semester students of Nautical department at PIP Semarang. The instruments used are questionnaires for need analysis, interview guide and observation sheets. The data were analyzed by using descriptive quantitative and qualitative. The results of the research recommend three units namely (1) Initial Call (2) Message Marker and (3) On Board Communication Phrases which are developed with communicative approach. The research gives contribution to the teaching and learning English at Nautical Department of Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Semarang.
As one of the Language system, good pronunciation is really needed to improve in mastering English. A Competent Employee needs English to communicate in a variety of situations with colleagues, clients, and business partners, moreover for someone who works in Logistics industry, whereas a Shipping Agent, a Custom Broker, or a Freight Forwarder. This paper is based on the data which attempt to present how pronunciation practices in the English for Logistics in Speaking Class of Port and Shipping Department of PIP Semarang. It described some methods and activity carried out in the classroom that deal with teaching pronunciation. The research may contribute to make a better understanding about the teaching of speaking class especially pronunciation of teaching English Logistics at PIP Semarang. This paper consists of four parts; Introduction, second is the method, third is finding and discussion, and fourth, conclusion and suggestions. The data was taken from Speaking Activities of English for Logistics i.e. Introduction to Logistics, Logistics Services, and Shipping Goods. The third semester class of Port and Shipping Department students has done these activities, before they do their Land Projects. The finding suggests that it is necessary to consider theoretical knowledge, practical classroom skills, and having access to good ideas for classroom activities.
This study attempts to explore how students and teacher perceive the usefulness of Computer Based Training (CBT) Seagull Training Lab software for teaching, and learning Maritime English in PIP Semarang. This software is used by Marine Navigation, Marine Engineering and Port and Shipping Department’s students. The study adopted the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by Davis (1989) focusing on the perceived acceptance of the software. This study employed the survey research design with simple random sampling as the sampling technique. The questionnaires and interviews were used as the method of data collection. The population participated are 374 students and 3 teachers. The data were analyzed and interpreted descriptively. The analysis was done under 4 headings: perceived of ease, perceived usefulness, attitude towards using, and behavior intention to use. The results show that students and teachers perceived the software both positively and negatively. It also reveals that a positive impact of the usage has a positive impact on teaching. Moreover, the negative perception is also uncovered.
