This purpose of this study is to improve media of Socratic dialogue that has been developed by the previous researcher and to determine the effect of the Socratic dialogue in enhance understanding of heat concept. As a result of prior research, showed students still have a misconception. Data collected from one institution of high school in Malang City using pre and posttest. Student’s conceptual changes that occur previous, during, after will be analyzed based on pretest and posttest scores and rethinking sequence of used record Socratic dialogue media. To explore more in-depth, the researcher conducted interviews with students on this concept. This result showed Socratic dialogue media could help students be aware mistakes or students become convinced if their opinion is correct. This study is important because it uses to improve student’s comprehension to move from the false toward the right concept. In some cases, the result of this study used for recovery and prevent to misconception. It can solve with appear cognitive conflict in the minds of students through Socratic dialogue.
This study investigated the multiple representations ability of high school students on linear motion in the aspect of the ability to represent various forms of representation and the ability to translate between representations. The representation records included verbal, graphs, diagrams, mathematics, and tables. This research was conducted by conducting tests on respondents consisting of 301 high school students who were randomly selected and studied linear motion. The analysis was carried out using IRT PCM 1PL with the help of the Quest program to determine students' ability scores (θ) and descriptive statistics for more detailed information. The results show that students tend to have low multiple representations ability (θ = -1.20) in all aspects of various representations. This finding implies that more attention is needed to improve the ability of multiple representations, and it is necessary to synchronize the physics and mathematics curriculum to support the improvement of multiple representation ability
Background:
We reported for the first time the preparation of carbon nanodots/cajuput oil (C-dots/CJO) composites for potential antibacterial applications.
Method:
The C-dots were synthesized from CJO distillation wastes via the low carbonization
method. Then, the C-dots were mixed with CJO to obtain C-dots/CJO composites. The characteristics of the C-dots were determined using UV-Vis, PL, TRPL, FTIR, and HRTEM, whereas
the C-dots/CJO composites were characterized using UV-Vis and FTIR.
Result:
Antibacterial properties were investigated for samples of C-dots, CJO, and C-dots/CJO
with no-light, white light, and UV/violet light treatments. The C-dots produced cyan luminescence with a decay lifetime of 6.54 ns. Based on the antibacterial tests, the C-dots/CJO composites have DIZ higher than the pure C-dots
Conclusion:
The C-dots/CJO composites reached the highest DIZ of 3.6 nm under white light,
which was attributed to the photodynamic effect and photodisinfection of the C-dots and CJO,
respectively. Hence, the C-dots/CJO composites can be potential antibacterial agents against E.
