This research aims to describe the metaphorical meaning contained in the poem titled "Sajak Pertemuan Mahasiswa" as explained by Stephen Ullmann (1962). Ullmann categorizes metaphors into four types: anthropomorphic metaphor, animal metaphor, concrete-to-abstract metaphor, and synesthesia metaphor. The method used in this research is qualitative research. This qualitative research method uses content analysis to focus on studying literary works. Then, the writer uses library techniques to collect references from books and scientific works to support this research. This technique is continued with the use of note technique, namely numeric technique, in every methapor category. As for the presentation of research results, the author uses an informal method, namely the presentation of data in ordinary words, as a medium to convey the contents of this research. By categorizing the metaphorical meanings that have been collected, the writer discovers that the most categories are anthropomorphic metaphors and metaphors from concrete to abstract, whereas no data with related meanings is found in synesthesia metaphors.
The digital era has encourages information providers to innovate by utilizing the internet to convey information quickly. No exception for the government in a way to provide information and news related to Covid-19 which has become a global pandemic. Using a website as a source of information can give quick access for people to obtain actual and valid information relating to Covid-19. Through www.covid19.go.id, the government provides a facility for people to be able to access all information about Covid-19 matters. In this research, the researcher will analyze how government gives simplicity in providing information related to Covid-19, which is represented on the www.covid19.go.id homepage. The researcher used CDA (critical discourse analysis) theory from Fairclough to analyze the text found on the www.covid19.go.id homepage. Then, the results of critical discourse analysis were linked with the reputation theory of Charles J. Fombrun. The analysis produced information in the form of language units of www.covid19.go.id homepage which contains a simplicity matter in the delivery of information. From this analysis, the researcher can conclude that the simplicity in www.covid19.go.id homepage was represented through the website components, content, and propositions contained in the homepage. The simplicity matter also found in the use of modes, those were descriptive, persuasive, and interrogative mode.
Indonesia has been elected for the first time in the G20 Presidency. Shortly after being elected to the presidency holder, a big challenge arose which was the re-emergence of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This situation forced Indonesia to appear as the leader of the world’s major economic countries. In this G20 Presidency, Indonesia has also built an image that is expected to help resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. This analytical descriptive research aimed to analyze the image of Indonesia in the G20 Presidency on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The approach used was a pragmatic approach, with speech act theory from Austin (1962) and Searle (1969), and image building theory from Lozier (1976). The data collection method chosen was the note-taking method with the data analysis technique was the pragmatic identity method. The data source for this research was an official speech video of President Joko Widodo responding to the Russia-Ukraine conflict which was obtained on the YouTube channel “Sekretariat Presiden”. The data collected were 13 utterances that contained the image of Indonesia on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Based on the results of the analysis, the image of Indonesia through Joko Widodo’s speech was built through illocutionary meaning. The illocutionary meaning produces 8 (eight) images of Indonesia, namely committed, proactive, neutral, humanist, peace-loving, solutive, progressive, and responsible. The image of Indonesia on the Russia-Ukraine conflict was built as a form of the existence of Indonesia which is now the G20 Presidency. This image is principle for Indonesia as the holder of the G20 Presidency to influence the world to build peace.
