Science and technology for the Community Activities Program (IBM) granting wake leaf meal in urea red sugar block has been implemented in a herd prosperous green valley village Kampung Manggis, Western District of Padang Panjang, Municipality of Leopold. This activity aims to increase the milk production of dairy cows through the application of technology utilization wake leaf meal in urea red sugar block. The benefits of this activity is to assist farmers in improving milk production per day, so that milk production can increase the impact on increasing revenue. To achieve the goal of service to the community mentioned above, it has been conducted lectures, live demonstrations on the making lick candy made from leaf shapes. Six cows used as a demonstration, two dairy cows with urea red sugar block containing 2.5% leaf shapes, two dairy cows with urea red sugar block containing leaf shapes 5% and two cows with urea red sugar block containing leaves wake up 7.5%. Wake up dried leaves with the help of sunlight and then made ready for use in the flour mixture forming urea red sugar block which serves as a feed supplement in dairy cattle. Evaluation activities indicate that the application of urea red sugar block starchy wake leaves 5% can increase the production of milk 2 liters / day / head (average increase 10%).Of this service activities can be concluded that the use of leaf meal wake up in 5% urea red sugar block can increase milk production of dairy cows 2 liters / day / head compared with 2.5%, 7.5%.
Microalgae have been studied for long as a functional foods and as food supplements for health. Microalgae contain nutrients and act as antimicrobials, natural antioxidants, anti-cholesterol and contain growth hormones. The research objective was to determine the application of fresh liquid chlorella (FLC) as a natural supplement on performance and broiler blood cholesterol for food safety. One hundred broilers were grouped into 5 treatments and 4 replications, each group consisting of 5 heads. FLC was given in drinking water with a concentration of K0 = 0 FLC cells FLC ml -1 , K1 = 10 4 FLC cells ml -1 , K2 = 10 5 FLC cells ml -1 , K 3 = 10 6 FLC cells ml -1 , K4 = 10 7 FLC cells ml -1 . The parameters measured; 1) broiler performance: feed consumption (g), body weight (g), feed conversion, carcass percentage (%); 2) broiler blood cholesterol (mg dl -1 ). The results showed that supplementation with a concentration of 10 7 cells FLC ml -1 (K4) gave the best performance, body weight gain increased by 8.5% compared to control (K0). The ration conversion ranged from 1.23 to 1.25 and the percentage of carcass was 4.0% higher than the control. Blood cholesterol decreased in line with the increase in the provision of FLC in drinking water, which was between 135 dl -1 (K0) down to 125 mg dl -1 (K4). Application of FLC in drinking water with a concentration of 10 7 cells FLC/ml, can improve performance and reduce broiler blood cholesterol for food safety.
The purpose of this study is to determine the response of broilers to the addition of African leaf flour and Miana leaves. This study used a completely randomized design. Day old broilers (DOC) 90 tails were randomly divided into 6 treatments and 3 replicates, with each replicate consisting of 5 tails. The six treatments were: A (excluding African Leaf Powder (TDA) and Miana Leaf Powder (TDM)), B (Added 4% TDA), C (Added 4% TDM), D (Added 2% TDA + 2% TDM), E (addition of 1% TDA + 3% TDM) and F (addition of 3% TDA + 1% TDM) were added to the self-stirring ration. The measured parameters were PBB, ration consumption, ration conversion, and carcass percentage. The results obtained from the addition of African leaf meal and Miana leaf meal had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on body weight, ration consumption, ration conversion and carcass percentage. The addition of African leaf meal and Miana leaf can be tolerated up to 4% in the broiler ration.
