P A L A V R A S -C H A V E: teletrabalho; poder/saber; subjetividade; discurso; prá-ticas discursivas. K E Y W O R D S: telecommuting; power/knowledge; subjectivity; discourse; discursive practices.
The new technologies of control in contemporary organizations rely on the constitution of the adequate subjects for performing organizational roles. Their objective is to control at a distance, instead of the direct supervising of individuals. It can be said that teleworking is the managerial initiative that has taken further the idea of distance between organizations and individuals. This paper aims at exploring how organizational control takes place in a situation in which physical distance between organization and individual is clearly established. Twenty-five teleworkers residing in Rio de Janeiro city were interviewed. All of the interviewees are teleworkers who hold stead job positions and perform knowledge-intensive tasks
This article aims at describing how executive women perceive the impact of issues relating to employability and gender in the construction of their careers in private companies in Brazil. The theoretical framework identifies changes in the workplace that make new career models emerge as well as issues related to gender and its impact on building professional trajectories. The field research, based on twelve in-depth interviews, sought to understand how the group perceives and traces their careers-what elements are identified as facilitators and what difficulties are perceived in this process, as well as strategies to overcome them. The results pointed that employability is considered crucial in building the careers of this group of women, through educational background. The gender issue only arose when discussing the family roles, more specifically, motherhood and marriage. Interviewees reported that the career is important as a source of personal fulfillment, but not letting go of motherhood and / or marriage. They make it clear they face obstacles in assuming different roles, but do not see impossibilities, but difficulties in their choice and seek to manage and consider the different roles assumed.

ABSTRACTPurpose: To identify whether public organizations that adopt the competency-based management model consider the collective component of competencies in their management practices. Originality/value: The academic literature highlights the potential of collective competencies to achieve organizational objectives, but there is a mismatch between the theoretical perspective and people management practices, which was confirmed throughout the study. Design/methodology/approach: The field research was carried out in three federal public organizations. Evidence was collected from documentary analysis and semi-structured interviews with ten employees from the respective Personnel Management areas. Findings: There was an isolated presence of attributes and sources of creation of collective competencies, which proved to be insufficient to determine their presence in the organizations under analysis. KEYWORDSPublic management. Management models. Strategic human resource management. Competency-based management model. Collective competency.
