The paper deals with the effect of non-uniform temperature over the cross-section in the steel frame structure under fire loading. The unequal temperature distribution causes additional bending moments in statically indeterminate structures. Numerical results of thermal and structural analysis from the commercial computer software ANSYS are compared with the experimental measurements on the steel frame exposed to high temperature.
For the best possible thermal-technical properties of building structures it is necessary to use materials with very low thermal conductivity. Due to the increasing thermal-technical requirements for building structures, the insulating materials are developed. One of the modern thermal insulating materials is so-called aerogel. Unfortunately, this material is not used in the field of external thermal insulation composite systems because of its price and its properties. The aim of this paper is to present possibilities of using this insulating material in the civil engineering - specifically a usage of aerogel in the production of windows.
The paper describes a study of non-uniform temperature distribution across the section of steel structures where elevated temperature causes additive internal forces due to restrained conditions. The work provides comparison of a heat field at the time of fire in the non-protected steel hollow cross-sections of different sizes. The study compares simplified calculations according to valid standard and numerical simulations in finite element analysis of steel structures exposed to fire loading from three sides. Numerical thermal analysis is also compared with results obtained from the fire testing in VSB-Technical University of Ostrava.
The paper analyses results of the experimental measurements and numerical simulations of the winter and summer temperature response in the light timber structure. In the article there is evaluated the suitability of using of the theoretical numerical methods for a thermal field prediction in a building structure exposed to non-stationary boundary conditions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
