Determining the implementation of the assessment and evaluation being used in Foundation of Listening Subject Lecturer become the objective of this study. It is conducted to the Foundation of Listening Subject lecturer in first semester of English Education Study Program, School of Education, Pakuan University, Bogor Indonesia. Qualitative approach and Descriptive are used as method. Observation, questionnaire and interview are utilized for data collection. The findings of the study are that most of the lecturer applied multiple choice question taken from TOEFL test book to test students knowledge, while the classroom performance is assessed by performance test.Keywords: Assessment, Evaluation, Foundation of Listening
The paper entitled Students' Difficulties in Using Statistical Formula to Analyze Research Data is written to analyze the students' difficulty in using statistical formula and the causes of it. This research is conducted to the last semester students of English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Educational Sciences, Pakuan University. Nine students are chosen as the participants. In conducting this research, descriptive method is used. Documentation, questionnaire, and interview are used to collect the data of this research. The result of the research shows that the students get difficulties in using statistical formula especially in calculating and interpreting research data. It can be seen from the data of students' paper. Besides, they get difficulties in using coma in the high number. In addition, they also get difficulty in comparing between r table and r calculated. Moreover, there are some causes of their difficulties in using statistical formula to analyze research data. First of all, the students calculate the research data carelessly. Second, they are rarely read book about statistics and research. Third, they rarely practice calculating research data and they rarely ask the lecturer about what they do not understand.
Environmental disposition is a part of environmental literacy dimension that has related to the attitude toward environment. One of the components is sensitivity to the environment. Environmental sensitivity should be taught by giving a good example in the school and the people around. Knowing students’ environmental sensitivity is necessary very much to decide appropriate environment subject based, curriculum and policy. The objective of the study is to describe the level of elementary school students’ environmental sensitivity. Descriptive method is used to capture and describe students’ sensitivity towards environment qualitatively and narratively. The subjects given are related to the problems found in daily life especially in the school and home around. As much as 100 students of six grade of elementary school involved as respondents. The students responded 15 statements related to the environmental issue by choosing: agree, doubt, or disagree. The result of the study shows that the students of elementary schools can be categorized as students who were sensitive towards environment around even doing the small things, but the rest of them who doubt and only a bit who ignore. The subject taught and the real example from the teachers can increase students’ environmental sensitivity level.
It is not doubt that writing has important role in real life. People can communicate, give information, and share their ideas through written way. Writing is classified as difficult skill because there are some components that should be considered, some kinds of text that should be understood, some steps that should be done, etc. Many students face difficulty to write explanation text, especially for generating the ideas. For that reason, chart is chosen as the media. The aim of this research is to find out the use of chart on students’ ability to write explanation text. It is conducted to the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Jonggol. In this research, Pre Experimental method and Pre-test Post-test Group design are used. There are 36 students from class XI MIPA 1 taken as the sample by using random sampling. The data were taken from pre-test and post-test which were analyzed by using t-test formula after having the normal data. Based on the data calculation, the mean of gain is 20.04, and the total of deviation of gain is 9.46. Moreover, t-test value is 9.45. Meanwhile, t-table value is 2.03 at significant level 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) is 35. In this case, the t-test value is higher than that of the t-table value (9.45 more than 2.03). It means that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Therefore, the use of chart affects students’ ability to write explanation text.
