Abstract. The International Service for the Geoid (ISG, https://www.isgeoid.polimi.it/, last access: 31 March 2021) provides free access to a dedicated and comprehensive repository of geoid models through its website. In the archive, both the latest releases of the most important and well-known geoid models, as well as less recent or less known ones, are freely available, giving to the users a wide range of possible applications to perform analyses on the evolution of the geoid computation research field. The ISG is an official service of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), under the umbrella of the International Gravity Field Service (IGFS). Its main tasks are collecting, analysing, and redistributing local, regional, and continental geoid models and providing technical support to people involved in geoid-related topics for both educational and research purposes. In the framework of its activities, the ISG performs research taking advantage of its archive and organizes seminars and specific training courses on geoid determination, supporting students and researchers in geodesy as well as distributing training material on the use of the most common algorithms for geoid estimation. This paper aims at describing the data and services, including the newly implemented DOI Service for geoid models (https://dataservices.gfz-potsdam.de/portal/?fq=subject:isg, last access: 31 March 2021), and showing the added value of the ISG archive of geoid models for the scientific community and technicians, like engineers and surveyors (https://www.isgeoid.polimi.it/Geoid/reg_list.html, last access: 31 March 2021).
Abstract. This paper describes the semi-automated procedure implemented for the production of Water Quality Parameters (WQP) maps obtained processing Sentinel-3 and Landsat-8 imagery in the framework of SIMILE Interreg project. The processing chain includes the use of the C2RCC processor to obtain Chl-a (Chlorophyll-a) and TSM (Total Suspended Matter) and the Barsi method to produce maps of water surface temperature. The maps were filtered to exclude anomalous values due for example to clouds, water reflection (such as glint), or mixed pixels and compared to in-situ data. The filtering included an outlier rejection performed with the 3σ rule. The values singled out as local anomalies where checked with respect to possible local behaviours, such as the presence of very small gulfs and inflow/outflow streams and providing guidelines with visual examples, to support the operator. The idea of a procedure as much as possible automated and guided is to foster the WQP maps production after the end of SIMILE project.
In Ecuador, farmers poorly adopt practices to manage potato seed degeneration. This could be related to the deficient understanding of the farmers’ capacity to experience seed degeneration and respond to it. We contribute to this understanding by answering: How do farmers experience seed degeneration?; What practices do farmers implement when their seed is degenerated?; and Is experiencing degeneration the pivotal factor determining how farmers replace their seed regardless their income? We analysed data collected in Ecuador through farmers’ focus group discussions, farmers’ surveys and interviews, and the Ecuadorian employment status survey. We found that approximately half of the farmers experienced degeneration. Farmers experienced it through low yields, change in seed appearance, crop weakening, and seed physiological problems. When farmers experienced degeneration, they replaced their seed, sought for technical advice, applied more agricultural inputs, or grew other crops. Income was an important trigger for farmers to change their seed replacement practices.
Abstract. Nowadays, the increasing pressure over water resources is reflecting on the water quality all over the globe. Not surprisingly, local, and regional governments are taking initiatives into tackling this issue. However, the management of water resources requires coordinated management by the stakeholders, especially in cross-border regions, to achieve efficient regulations. Then, the data-sharing for monitoring the water resources is fundamental for the stakeholder participation in the process of knowledge building. This work presents the design and implementation of a collaborative web platform aiming at enhancing these processes applied to share water quality parameters maps produced under the framework of the SIMILE (Integrated monitoring system for knowledge, protection and valorisation of the subalpine lakes and their ecosystems) project. The platform takes advantage of open-source infrastructure and standards. The solution provides two web-based applications devoted to the upload/management (customized GeoNode) of the data and its visualization (WebGIS). The scope of the collaborative platform is to improve the access to information for awareness-building on the water resources in the Insubric area.

Una de estas normas, la NTS-TS 002 relacionada con requisitos de sostenibilidad turística, resulta de interés para los establecimientos de alojamiento y hospedaje de la ciudad de Cartagena de Indias, convirtiéndose en una necesidad que requiere ser apoyada con el uso de TIC. Desde esta necesidad, el proyecto de investigación aplicada desarrollado por el grupo de investigación en Ingeniería de Software y Nuevas Tecnologías-GISNET (COLCIENCIAS, 2018), propone un modelo de gestión de procesos que permita alcanzar el cumplimiento de la norma NTS-TS 002 mediante su implementación con una herramienta tecnológica web(NTS-SOFT), desarrollada con el apoyo de los procesos, metodologías y herramientas soportadas y reconocidas en la Ingeniería de Software.
