The traditional active noise control design aims to attenuate the energy of residual noise, which is indiscriminative in the frequency domain. However, it is necessary to retain residual noise with a specified spectrum to satisfy the requirements of human perception in some applications. In this paper, the evolution of active noise control and sound quality are briefly discussed. This paper emphasizes on the advancement of active noise control method in the past decades in terms of enhancing the sound quality.
Based on the Least Square Mean method which is broadly applied on the active noise control technology, the paper calculated the frequency selective LMS algorithm and created the model for the application of the algorithm on active noise control; and was modeled and analyzed the adaptive attenuation simulation with single tone noise signal and narrow band noise signal demonstrating on the platform of Matlab/Simulink, after the control parameters of filter performance parameters and step size and filter length of adaptive filter was decided. The simulation result showed obvious counteract effect of noice signal,it was identical with theoretic solution and the presented algorithm was valid.

To Improve the weakness of the traditional active noise control system was not able to optionally control different frequency band noises and was easy to be disturbed by random disturbance, this paper proposed an adaptive active sound quality control(AASQC) method which used the active noise equalization(ANE) theory and FELMS algorithm as a kernel. The AASQC method can effectively solve the problem of disturbance in transmission bands by introducing and adjusting gain coefficient to implement the controllable cancellation of noises. Under Matlab/Simulink software environment, the AASQC algorithm was compared with the traditional adaptive active noise control algorithm FXLMS. The simulation results showed that the AASQC algorithm described above was of good stability and robustness in active sound quality control, and sound quality could be improved remarkably.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
