Herein a new (11) C radiolabelling strategy for the fast and efficient synthesis of thioureas and related derivatives using the novel synthon, (11) CS2 , is reported. This approach has enabled the facile labelling of a potent progesterone receptor (PR) agonist, [(11) C]Tanaproget, by the intramolecular reaction of the acyclic aminohydroxyl precursor with (11) CS2 , which has potential applications as a positron emission tomography radioligand for cancer imaging.
The corrosive behaviour of loaded amine solvents was evaluated under stripper operating conditions, for post-combustion carbon capture, to determine the feasibility of using carbon steel in plant construction. In addition to monoethanolamine, three alternative amine solvents: methyldiethanolamine (MDEA), 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP), 1-(2-aminoethyl)piperazine (AEPZ), and the common additive K 2 CO 3 were studied when in contact with carbon steel (C1018) over a 28-day period. Corrosive behaviour was evaluated using carbon steel coupons: gravimetric method for weight change, surface imaging (SEM) and analytical techniques (EDX and XRD), and Fe ion concentration in solution (ICP-OES). The results demonstrated that MDEA and AMP as well as K 2 CO 3 develop a significant siderite (FeCO 3 ) layer on the carbon steel surface. The presence of this layer is attributed to the preferred reaction pathway with CO 2 for tertiary and sterically hindered amines. The FeCO 3 layer formed in the case of MDEA provides superior protection from continued corrosion of the carbon steel. By contrast, MEA and AEPZ show significant corrosion to the carbon steel surface. In conclusion, MDEA, AMP, and K 2 CO 3 can preferentially produce sufficient surface FeCO 3 layers to reduce corrosion levels in carbon steels for use under stripper conditions in postcombustion carbon capture plants.
A theoretical analysis of magnetic couplers is recounted, leading to the design and manufacture of prototype disc type magnetic couplers. Design and development of experimental test rigs are also given. Test results are presented and compared with theoretical calculations. This shows very good agreement. The exception to the rule was the case of axial load measurements, which were not accurately evaluated by the computations. The geometries tested here showed the optimum design to consist of rotors with eight poles, magnet thickness of 10 mm and a filling factor of about 0.7.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
