NMP has emerged as a significant cause of concern among both the groups. Standardized measures for identification and appropriate psychobehavioral therapy for those seeking help might alleviate the problem.
Sclerotinia stem rot (SSR) is a fungal disease of rapeseed/canola that causes significant seed yield losses and reduces its oil content and quality. In the present study, the reaction of 187 diverse canola genotypes to SSR was characterized at full flowering stage using the agar plug to stem inoculation method in four environments. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) using three different algorithms identified 133 significant SNPs corresponding with 123 loci for disease traits like stem lesion length (LL), lesion width (LW), and plant mortality at 14 (PM_14D) and 21 (PM_21D) days. The explained phenotypic variation of these SNPs ranged from 3.6 to 12.1%. Nineteen significant SNPs were detected in two or more environments, disease traits with at least two GWAS algorithms. The strong correlations observed between LL and other three disease traits evaluated, suggest they could be used as proxies for SSR resistance phenotyping. Sixty-nine candidate genes associated with disease resistance mechanisms were identified. Genomic prediction (GP) analysis with all the four traits employing genome-wide markers resulted in 0.41–0.64 predictive ability depending on the model specifications. The highest predictive ability for PM_21D with three models was about 0.64. From our study, the identified resistant genotypes and stable significant SNP markers will serve as a valuable resource for future SSR resistance breeding. Our study also suggests that genomic selection holds promise for accelerating canola breeding progress by enabling breeders to select SSR resistance genotypes at the early stage by reducing the need to phenotype large numbers of genotypes.
Background: Job satisfaction expresses the extent of congruence between an individual’s expectation of the job and the reward that the job provides.Job satisfaction among doctors is an issue that is of utmost importance because offactors like patient relationships and time pressures associated with managed care. The current study was done to determine the level of job satisfaction in doctors posted in a tertiary care hospital of eastern India and to find out the factors associated with it. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross sectional study was conducted among 255 doctors posted in a tertiary care hospital of eastern India. Data werecollected using a self-reported questionnaire consisting of 49 items addressing the seven domains of job satisfaction, where higher values indicated higher level of satisfaction. The average scores of items were computed to construct factor scores for each individual. Two stage cluster analysis was performed to get the proportion of satisfied doctors and binary logistic regression was used for comparison of predictors of job satisfaction. Results: The proportion of job satisfaction was found to be 59.6% and the most important factor was found to be working space. On adjustment, the odds of being satisfied were found to be higher in the older age groups, among males, doctors posted in preclinical or paraclinical departments and those staying in present setting for 5 years or more. Conclusion: More than half of the doctors were found to be satisfied with their job which can help the policy makers to make necessary strategies to increase the level of satisfaction of the employees. .
Flooding is one of the major constraints for rice production in rainfed lowlands, especially in years and areas of high rainfall. Incorporating the Sub1 (Submergence1) gene into high yielding popular varieties has proven to be the most feasible approach to sustain rice production in submergence-prone areas. Introgression of this QTL into popular varieties has resulted in considerable improvement in yield after flooding. However, its impact under non-flooded conditions or years have not been thoroughly evaluated which is important for the farmers to accept and adopt any new version of their popular varieties. The present study was carried out to evaluate the effect of Sub1 on grain yield of rice in different genetic backgrounds, under non-submergence conditions, over years and locations. The study was carried out using head to head trials in farmer’s fields, which enable the farmers to more accurately compare the performance of Sub1 varieties with their recurrent parents under own management. The data generated from different head to head trials revealed that the grain yield of Sub1 varieties was either statistically similar or higher than their non-Sub1 counterparts under non-submergence conditions. Thus, Sub1 rice varieties show no instance of yield penalty of the introgressed gene.
