Further development of SolidWorks with VB is carried out in this paper. Program and dimension driving methods are utilized for parametric design to realize the automatic generation of three dimension component and engineering drawing in SolidWorks. Intelligent generation of drawing is achieved by adjusting the view scale of engineering drawing, generating view size and cutaway view in order to improve the design efficiency and quality.

Parametric design is an important application of the secondary development of SolidWorks. The characteristics of parametric design and the methods and the process of the secondary development of SolidWorks are introduced. The secondary development of SolidWorks realized the parametric design and FEA for the lower support plate of bridge bearing.
