The reaction of the carbazole ligand supported Ga(I) compound LGa(THF) (3) and 1-azido-4-(tert-butyl)benzene (ArN3) afforded the first stable tetrazagallole LGaN4Ar2 (4) bearing a three-coordinate Ga atom. Reduction of 4 with...
Magnesium(I) complexes have attracted a great deal of attention because of their practical application as elegant organicsoluble reducing agents in small-molecule activation and organometallic synthesis. However, no stable mononuclear magnesium(I) compounds have been isolated so far. Herein, we used the ligand 3,6di-tert-butyl-1,8-bis(10-phenylanthracen-9-yl)carbazolyl (L − ) to synthesize the magnesium(I) species, and the magnesium complex LMg(THF) 2 (3) was isolated. Electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopic studies and theoretical calculations reveal that the unpaired electron mainly resides at one of the anthracenyl moieties, and 3 is essentially a magnesium(II)-radical dianion complex.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
