Tourism has been negatively impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic, making it even more important for tourist destinations to focus on their brand equity from the perspective of their customers—visitors. The aim of this paper is therefore to verify and modify the model of customer-based brand equity for a tourism destination (CBBETD) and its attributes for the destination of Croatia from the perspective of Czech tourists, among whom primary research was conducted using the CAWI method (n = 451). The main CBBE dimensions were extracted using factor analysis and a model with four dimensions (awareness, image, quality and loyalty) was created. The identified attributes explain between 55% and 82% of the variability of a given dimension. Although the study’s results follow the published models of CBBETD, the attributes in each dimension and the subdimension in the image dimension reflect the specificities of the destination of Croatia. Thus, the results of this paper extend the economic theory with another model and are also applicable in the field of destination management.
Zircon and apatite fission track (AFT) thermochronology was applied to the James Ross Basin sedimentary rocks from James Ross and Seymour islands. The probable sources of these sediments were generated in Carboniferous to Early Paleogene times (,315 to 60 Ma). The total depths of individual James Ross Basin formations are discussed. The AFT data were modelled, and the thermal history model was reconstructed for samples from Seymour Island. The first stage after a period of total thermal annealing (when the samples were above 1208C) involved Late Triassic cooling (,230 to 200 Ma) and is followed by a period of steady cooling through the whole apatite partial annealing zone (PAZ, 60-1208C) to minimum temperature in Paleocene/Early Eocene. The next stage was the maximum burial of sedimentary rocks in the Eocene (,35 Ma, 1.1-1.8 km) and the final cooling and uplift of Seymour Island sedimentary rocks at ,35 to 20 Ma.
This paper concerns Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the hotel industry. The main goal was to find out how the CSR activities of hotels changed during the coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19). The research on this topic was executed in the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic, due to the local tourism diversity, provides a representative picture of the topic in a European context. A unique questionnaire survey of 154 respondents selected by quotes was performed in May 2022. Managers of hotels answered questions about CSR efforts before the coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19) and now. CSR activities were examined in several areas of economic, social, and environmental responsibility. The picture of CSR evolution over time influenced by the COVID-19 crisis can be seen. The paper presents several surprising facts. It shows that smaller facilities can also perform CSR and that lower annual turnover is not a barrier for hotels. The gathered data and implications are analysed in detailed contingency tables and visualized in a graph. Due to the specificity of the data, the uncertainty coefficient and Cramer's V coefficient were chosen to explore possible associations in the dataset. The largest benefit of this study is that the data represents not only external reports of CSR but also strategic thinking of hotel facilities. The next benefit of the study is a unique model of specific CSR activities that hotels perform now.
The article discusses the possibility of application of project management principles to the process of online marketing in the Czech online competitive environment of accommodation facilities. The first part summarizes the basic principles of project management of major publications. Second part of the article introduces the reader to the topic of online marketing of accommodation facilities. A comprehensive model is showing various activities which were compiled by previous supporting research about online communication of accommodation facilities in the northern and eastern Bohemia. Last most important part of the article discusses the possibility of incorporating the principles of project management to the model shown. Proposed solution is finally potencialy applied to real accomodation facility.
