Neonatal respiratory morbidity or being Caucasian were the population-specific independent risk factors for RSVH in 32-36 weeks of GA in Ireland, whereas the other identified independent risk factors mirrored those established in previous studies.
Preliminary evidence suggests physical activity may not be associated with either body size or fitness in children with Down syndrome. Body size appears to be inversely related to fitness in children with Down syndrome.
DS is associated with an increased prevalence of thyroid dysfunction, particularly in preschool children. Biochemical screening is essential and capillary whole blood TSH sampling for hypothyroidism is feasible, less invasive and acceptable.
Summary:Microalbuminuria (or urinary albumin excretion rates (AER) above normal limits) is associated with coronary heart disease (CHD) particularly in diabetics. To determine the sensitivity and specificity of AER for CHD in a non-diabetic population we prospectively studied 115 consecutive patients undergoing coronary angiography and 66 undergoing exercise electrocardiography (ECG). There was no relationship between AER and the severity of CHD determined by angiography (Gensini-scored). While microalbuminuria (AER>20 fg/minute) was 91% specific it had low sensitivity (12%). Microalbuminuria is not a sensitive indicator of CHD in a non-diabetic population.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
