A revision of the genus niplark (Polygonaceae) John Brandbyge Brandbyge, J. 1986. A revision of the genus Piptaris (Polygonaceae). -Nord. J. Bot. 6: 545-570. Copenhagen. ISSN 0107-055X. The neotropical genus Triplaris Loefl. ex L. is revised. A total of 73 taxa had previously been described. In the present revision 17 species, 1 subspecies, and 1 variety are recognized. A new combination Triplaris melaenodendron (Bertol.) Standl. & Steyenn. ssp. colombiana (Meisner) Brandbyge is made, and a new variety T. setosa Rusby var. woyfkowski Brandbyge is proposed. Keys based on both pistillate and staminate specimens are presented.

Bot. 10: 155-160. ISSN 0107-055X.Three new species, Ruprechtia maracaensis, Ruprechtia nitida, and Triplaris matogrossensis are described. Ruprechtia glauca is a poorly known species from the state of Bahia. Its relationship with R. laxiflora is discussed.
A revision of the generic limits between Triplaris and Ruprechtia (Polygonaceae), which were confused in earlier literature. led to the conclusion that the two genera should be maintained. Triplaris is characterized by 1-flowered pistillate partial intlorescences, absence of a basal pedicel-like extension of the fruiting perianth-tube, which is always as long as or longer than the achene, bracteoles completely fissured on the ahaxial side, and sessile or subsessile male flowers with perianth segments always connate for more than half of their length. Ruprechtia has 2-3-flowered monochasial pistillate part-inflorescences (except the 1 -flowered R. triflora). a basal pedicel-like extension of the fruiting perianth-tube. which is at most 3/4 as long as the achene, more or less tubular bracteoles only exceptionally fissured down on the ahaxial side, and pedicellate male flowers with perianth segments never connate for more than one third of their lenght. Preliminary palynological studies have shown that the pollen of Triplaris are microreticulate or punctate-microreticulate while Ruprechria pollen have perforate-rugulose surfaces.J . Brandbyge, J . 1990. The diversity of micromorphological features in the genus Coccoloba (Polygonaceae). -Nord. J. Bot. 10: 25-44, Copenhagen. ISSN 0107ossx.Coccoloba P. Browne ex is a large and taxonomically complex genus of woody neotropical Polygonaceae. In this study, which includes 70 taxa, leaf and perianth epiderms and pollen surfaces were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Stomata, primary sculpture, epicuticular wax deposits, and multicellular glandular hairs of leaf blades together with secondary sculpture of perianth epiderms constitute taxonomically important micromorphological characters. Pollen morphology of the examined species is relatively uniform. Types based on surface ornamentation vary continuously from finely punctate-striate to deeply punctate-striate or microreticulate. Two species, C. acapulcensis and C. cordatu, differ markedly from the rest of the investigated species by having spinulose cktexines. The diagnostic-descriptive value of the characters studied is more pronounced than the taxonomic-phylogenetic value. The disjunct distributions of two closely related species pairs C . acapul-cencislC. cordatu and C. hrasiliensislC. schomburgkii are discussed. J .
