This book uses rigorous analytic methods to determine the behaviour of spatial, deterministic models of certain multi-type epidemic processes where infection is spread by means of contact distributions. Results obtained include the existence of travelling wave solutions, the asymptotic speed of propagation and the spatial final size. The relationship with contact branching processes is also explored.
Purpose -This paper aims to demonstrate that it is important to have a methodological process that is reflexive and flexible to achieve fluid interactions that add rigour and energy to the overall process of a built environment project.Design/methodology/approach -This paper outlines the Prospective through Scenarios futures process used in a study called the ''Workplace of the Future''. It also discusses how and why the methodology evolves over the course of the project with participant feedback as the main source of information for the analysis.Findings -Change is the one factor in the Prospective through Scenarios methodological development that ensures the participants to think deeply and laterally in a futures process, from which a value-driven process is achieved.Originality/value -Novel futures techniques have been applied to a discipline that is usually reactive and quantitative -workplace provision and facilities management.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
