Fruit growing is a way to boost the economy of the Northeast. It is believed that the understanding of the chemical characteristics and nutritional value of fruits serves as a tool to propose improvements in the form of consumption and in the use of these foods. The exposed work aimed to evaluate the physical and chemical characteristics of tropical fruits sold in open markets in the city of Mossoró–RN. For this, pineapple, banana, mango and cashew fruits were purchased, these were cleaned and submitted to analyzes of pH, humidity, vitamin C, soluble solids and total soluble sugars. The results show that the analyzed fruits have an approximate pH value, with the average of the range between 3.9 – 4.2, showing that the fruits have an acid character. The moisture content varied between 81% and 71% for cashew and banana, respectively. The concentrations of vitamin C were quite variable, with cashew the most concentrated and pineapple the least, with an average of 49.5 and 17 mg of vitamin C/100 g of fruit, respectively. For soluble solids, pineapple and mango were the fruits with the highest concentration, however, when evaluated the total soluble sugars the banana is the fruit with the highest concentration. Therefore, it can be seen that tropical fruits had an excelente nutritional value and a high content of antioxidant compounds.
Intensive Care Units (ICUs) increasingly admit patients diagnosed with neurological disorders. The proven brain injury from trauma is considered a global health problem. The mortality of these patients is directly related to clinical severity and dependence on specialized care. Thus, it is necessary to elucidate the profile of patients admitted to the ICU diagnosed with a neurological disorder, in order to organize health interventions and act in the prevention of the triggering factors of these diseases, contributing to the systematization of nursing care in this sector. The presente study aimed to characterize the profile of patients admitted to the ICU with the diagnosis of neurological damage. For this, a quantitative research was carried out, based on the analysis of the medical records of users admitted to the ICU of the Regional Hospital Tarcísio de Vasconcelos Maia located in the city of Mossoró-RN. After analyzing the data, it was found that Cranioencephalic Trauma (TBI) was the most prevalente reason for hospitalization in the hospital’s emergency room and neurological damage was the most prevalente reason for admission to the ICU. Most of the patients with neurological disorders were men, with na average age of 47 years old. Regarding the outcome, 77.50% of users with neurological disorders died, with 37.71% diagnosed with TBI. The characteristics found in the research may contribute to the elaboration of care strategies to offer quality nursing care to patients diagnosed with neurological disorders, optimizing the care provided and adequate support.
Anxiety – related disorders are a disease commonly identified in the Brazilian population. It is estimated that about 18.6 million people are addicted to benzodiazepines. Among the complaints reported by patients, we can identify anxiety disorders, mental suffering and vulnerability factors that arise dynamically throughout the life of each person. Thus, the present study aimed to track the epidemiological profile and the type of psychotherapy used in the treatment of patients who are part of the mental health group of a Basic Health Unit (UBS) in the city of Mossoró – RN. For this, a cross-sectional, descriptive, retrospective study with a quantitative approach was carried out, with the target population being all patients who made and use psychotropic medication in the Unit in question. Thus, of a total of 573 medical records present at the UBS, 36 fit as users of psychotherapeutic drugs, reflecting 6.28% of users of the health system. It was observed that the most prevalente age group using psychotropic drugs are between 60 – 69 years of age, constituting 36.11% of users. There is a discrepancy in the use of Clonazepam (with 55.5%) in relation to other drugs. There was also a prevalence of the use of psychiatric drugs by women and patients aged over 40 years. Thus, the present work proposes intervention measures to rationalize the use of psychotropic drugs, aiming at the participatory inclusion of the patient in the health system.
The green coconut (Cocos nucifera) is one of the most consumed fruits on the Brazilian coast, but it’s use generates an excess of waste that is improperly discarded by consumers. The biomass produced by the disposal of coconut is a potential input for making sustainable products. With this, the present work had as objective to use the coconut mesocarp in the making of biodegradable jars. In this way, the heating of the 5% starch solution was carried out by mixing the fragmented coconut mesocarp, serving as raw material for the production of the biodegradable ecological jug. After production, the jug was used for the cultivation of Phaseolus vulgaris L. seeds and the seed germination rate, height, number of leaves, seedling biomass and soluble sugar contente of the seedlings grown in biodegradable jars annd jars of polyethylene. As a results, it can be seen that seedlings grown in biodegradable jars, after 21 days of sowing, they had a significant increase in their height, number of leaves and biomass, when compared to the seedlings growing in polyethylene jars. Thus, it can be observed that the work proposes and excellent use to avoid the waste of the coconut mesocarp, providing a sustainable alternative to the use of plastic and an improvement in the cultivation of Phaseolus vulgaris L. seedlings.
The process of initial and continuing document formation is extremely important for the success of your professional career. However, it is commonly reported the presence of professionals teaching different disciplines in their area of training and there are also professionals without continuing education. Factors like these can directly interfere with the quality of students’ teaching and learning. Thus, the presente study aimed to outline the socio-professional profile and investigate the initial and continuing education of teachers in the Science discipline who teach in the state network of the municipality of Mossoró-RN. For this, a cross-sectional, descriptive, retrospective study with a quantitative approach was carried out, with the target population being teachers of the Science discipline of 20 schools in the state network of Mossoró-RN. It can be seen that the predominant age group of teachers is between 36-45 years (57.2%), the majority are women (57%), the most frequent civil status is married (42%), 56% of professionals have childrens. In relation to the work regime, 57% have a workload of 60 hours per week, complement the workload with another discipline and have between 5-10 years of teaching career. When the initial training is evaluated, it can be seen that all professionals have completed higher education at the State University of Rio Grande do Norte and that 57% have a degree in Biological Sciences. Finally, when evaluating continuing education, it is observed that 71% took graduate courses in the specialization modality, but do not carry out continuous training activities. Thus, it is observed that most professionals who teach the discipline of Sciences in the state network of the city of Mossoró-RN, have initial and continuing training, but they miss training courses for recycling knowledge. Thus, the work proposes the creation of participatory intervention projects that integrate public school teachers to update their knowledge.
