Objective: to map the use of massage to relieve neonatal pain during procedures performed in Intensive Care Units. Methods: a scoping review conducted in 11 data sources, following the Joanna Briggs Institute recommendations. The question was: what is the knowledge about the use of massage to relieve pain in newborns during painful procedures in a neonatal intensive care unit? 12 studies were selected for the results. Results: therapeutic massage in newborns is positive in reducing the score on pain scales, decreasing heart and respiratory rates, increasing oxygen saturation, improvements in behavioral status, weight gain, neurological development, shorter crying time and performing the painful procedure. Conclusion: massage/reflexotherapy is effective in reducing neonatal pain in intensive care units, being performed on lower limbs, heel, back or at the procedure site, with light to moderate pressure and an average duration of five minutes.
Objective: to map the production of knowledge about the recommendations that can be applied in managing patients diagnosed or suspected with COVID-19 in cardiorespiratory arrest. Method: a scoping review, according to the Joanna Briggs Institute (2020) guidelines. Search was performed in ten data sources, and two electronic search engines were used; from 2001 to 2020. Results: of the 547 studies found, 14 met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Most studies were published in 2020 (35.7%), and most studies were conducted in Canada (21.4%). It is observed the use of a systematized care to identify the possible means of care that should be provided to patients who suffer a cardiorespiratory arrest in hospitals, such as the monitoring of suspected cases by assessing the victim’s breathing and pulse and identifying arrhythmias and shockable rhythms quickly. Personal protective equipment must be used to protect against droplets and aerosols and respiratory etiquette. Conclusion: managing patients in cardiorespiratory arrest suspected or diagnosis with COVID-19 requiring cardiopulmonary resuscitation should be performed in isolation areas and with the use of adequate protective equipment. There are gaps in scientific productions so that they address more clearly and instructively management when performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation in patients suspected or diagnosed with COVID-19.
Objectives: to analyze the applicability of Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis tools, aiming to improve care in pediatric units. Methods: this is a scoping review carried out according to the Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes extension for Scoping Reviews. Search took place in May 2018 on 15 data sources. Results: search totaled 8,254 studies. After using the relevant inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 articles were included in the review. Of these, nine were published between 2013 and 2018, 12 used Failure Mode and Effect Analysis and 11 carried out interventions to improve the quality of the processes addressed, showing good post-intervention results. Final Considerations: the application of the tools indicated significant changes and improvements in the services that implemented them, proving to be satisfactory for detecting opportunities for improvement, employing specific methodologies for harm reduction in pediatrics.
Objective: Identify non-pharmacological therapies for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder in emergency responders. Method: Scope review according to the guidelines of the Joanna Briggs Institute and the PRISMA-ScR protocol. A search was conducted in nine databases, portals of theses and dissertations, and using an electronic search engine. Results: In total, 23 studies were selected and analyzed, and then categorized into six thematic fields - therapy with omega 3 food supplement, art therapy, physical exercise therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, therapy with elements of nature, and psychotherapy - which were considered non-pharmacological treatments for this psychopathology among emergency responders, as well as the use of psychotherapy via telehealth as an option for treatment. Conclusion: More evidence supporting diet therapy is required, while the other therapeutic options presented positive results, finding support in national and international recommendations of treatment and clinical practice.
