Forests is a Swiss open access journal in the field of forestry and forest ecology founded in 2010. Currently, the journal celebrates its 10th anniversary. Therefore, the purpose of this research for the special issue A Decade of Forests Open Access Publishing is to present a whole bibliometric overview of the journal and highlight the state of the art of forestry as an interdisciplinary knowledge area. A bibliometric analysis of 2094 articles, reviews, editorials and corrections was conducted using two different scientific information platforms which publish indexes in online databases: Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus. The most influential countries and their relationship with funding institutions, the most leading and outstanding authors and the most significant articles published in Forests have been analyzed. A complete keyword concurrence network with a graphical visualization and a cluster analysis are adopted for identifying the main trends and opening issues to address in the coming decade, such as genetic diversity, forest productivity, resistance or resilience. This article has identified climate change, remote sensing, biomass and forest management as the main trends in forestry research during the last ten years.
Palabras clave: telecolaboración, competencia intercultural, educación superior, normalización "You realize that the world can be so different and similar at the same time": Telecollaboration and the development of the intercultural competence in higher education ABSTRACT This paper revolves around the integration of telecollaboration, or online intercultural exchange, in higher education settings for the development of the intercultural competence in the English as a Foreign Language classroom. The perspective of the participants in a telecollaboration exchange from both Spain and the United States is analysed. The students collaborated in plurinational, multicultural groups so as to complete a set of tasks, the cognitive complexity of which was progressively increased: creating a digital profile, recording an introduction video, multimedia interaction (e.g. text, audio, videoconferencing) discussing and debating suggested topics, creating digital stories and planning and delivering an oral presentation. The qualitative and quantitative data analysed were gathered by means of a pre-and a post-questionnaire. The complexity of carrying out these kinds of projects points out the need for a curricular revision which allows for the normalisation (Bax, 2000(Bax, , 2003Chambers & Bax, 2006) of Information and Communications Technologies in the classroom. This in turn would imply an effective and integrated use of those technologies within 21st century teaching practices. Furthermore, institutional support in the form of recognition, provision of...
This study is aimed at analysing self-citation as a strategy used by journals and authors regarding first citations in of Latin-American psychology journals between 2012 and 2016. A total of 8977 citations received were analysed for a total of 2403 papers published in the 19 Latin-American psychology journals collected in the 2016 WoS (included in the 2015 JCR edition). The results indicate that there is an effect of the first self-citations on the number of citations, the journal self-citations and the author's. It is observed that the journal self-citations and first journal self-citations are more important for the journals located in first quartiles, versus author's self-citations. The importance of the type of selfcitation differs between some publications and others, being the journal self-citations those that greater differences present between journals throughout the period studied. The selfconsumption of information, according to the number of articles with self-citations, varies between the journals, ranging between 88.8 and 55.8%. It can be concluded that self-citations and first self-citations play an important role in the citation of the works and in the increase of their visibility.
This paper analyses all psychology journals included in the different categories of the JCR (SCI and SSCI) and SJR databases during the period 2014-2016 in order to identify the journals that are better positioned in the discipline, and the specialities and countries with the highest number of publications indexed in such databases. Method: The distribution of psychology journals by country, quartile, and subject category was studied in order to determine the total number and position of journals in each country, and to identify the countries with more journals of ‘excellence’ in psychology in the international scene. Results: The United States and the United Kingdom had the highest number of journals included in the databases, as well as the Netherlands, Germany, France and Spain. Only 11 countries have psychology journals in quartile 1 in JCR, and 14 in SJR databases. Conclusions: As a result of the application of new evaluation criteria in psychology research in Spain, the paper addresses the difficulties and consequences that some of these measures may have for the survival of psychology journals that do not have a position in quartile 1 or 2 in the databases used for the evaluation of professionals’ research in this discipline
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
