Wear occurs in rail wheels due to varying surface contact between wheel and railway. Many materials are used to minimize the wear effect of friction, one of which is graphite. Graphite has been known having dry lubricating ability. To find out the effect of graphite lubrication on wear level of wheel and railway, an experiment-based research is important to conduct. This research started with designing the construction of disc-on-disc wear testing instrument, wheel specimen using EMS45 material and railway specimen using VCL140 material. Dry lubricant used was graphite bar polished onto wheel specimen surface. The result of research showed that graphite could adhere to wheel surface and penetrate into the fissures of contact between wheel and railway. Varying graphite polishing conducted once in 5 minutes and 10 minutes resulted in different volume of graphite filling in the fissures of wheel specimen surface. The more the graphite volume polished onto wheel specimen surface, the less is the material loss due to surface contact. Graphite’s ability of filling in this contact area fissure when administered in appropriate volume would enable graphite to be a good dry lubricant. If this graphite polishing technique is applied to rail wheels, it would be beneficial, as it can lengthen the wheel life.
The purpose of this study is to describe the students’ ability of interpretation, analysis, inference, fluency and originality in solving questions about patterns and rows of numbers. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and as many as 40 students consisting of 19 students of SMPN 5 Bantan and 21 students of Al-Huda MTS. The instrument used in the form of (1) written tests oriented to HOTs and (2) interview guidelines. The test results showed the average level of SMPN 5 Bantan students’ HOTs (49.34) and MTS Al-Huda (45.12) was categorized as sufficient. The score of each indicator of HOTs for SMPN 5 Bantan students is known that interpretation= 48.68, analysis= 40.13, inference= 64.47, fluency= 52.68 and originality= 40.79 while for MTs Al-Huda students are interpretation= 61.18, analysis= 40.79, inference= 53.57, fluency= 38.16 and originality= 45.24. Based on the interview results it is also known that the low level of students’ HOTs is because students are not accustomed to solving HOTs questions and the unavailability of HOTs questions that specifically measure HOTs in schools, so it is hoped that further research on questions of HOTs.
Capacitor bank is a collection of power tools in the form of a capacitor that serves as a tool that can reduce or improve reactive power into the power grid. The load on the electricity network in general is an inductive load. If the average power factor (cos ϴ) is less than 0.85, the State Electricity Company will provide the reactive power in KVAR fines usage charges on customers. An effort should be done to reduce the reactive power. An installation of bank capacitor is suitable to be implemented in an industry AC loads. It will reduce the reactive power and improve the power factor. In the case of 380 V, 50 Hz, 500 kW AC loads are improved the power factor from 0.7 to 0.93 using genetic algorithm, thus the AC loads current and reactive power will be decreased. It is suitable that the AC loads current is inversely proportional to the power factor, and the reactive power is proportional to the AC loads current.
This article tries to give input regarding innovation in history learning, especially in the aspect of the learning approach. Learning history is often regarded as a boring subject, full lessons with memorizing facts as well as the way the teaching is sometimes still using the old paradigm, where learning activities are teacher-centered, students only become passive subjects. To overcome this problem so that teaching history becomes more interesting and meaningful, it is necessary to find alternative solutions. The solution offered in this article is to use a constructivism approach, by applying this approach it is expected that students are able to build their knowledge independently so that they are able to capture the meaningfulness of a historical event. Especially local history which has been facilitated since the curriculum changes, because so far local history has not been seriously explored in historical teaching materials in schools.
