Circulating fluidized bed combustion (CFBC) power generation technology is known to efficiently reduce the emission of air pollutants, such as SO2 and NO2, from coal combustion. however, CFBC coal ash contains high contents of free CaO, making it difficult to recycle. This research has been conducted to find ways to use the self-hardening property of CFBC coal ash, one of its inherent characteristics. As part of these efforts, the present study intended to investigate the properties and desulfurization efficiency of Ca-based desulfurization sorbents using CFBC fly-ash as a binder. Limestone powder was mixed with CFBC fly-ash and Ca(OH)2 to fabricate desulfurization sorbents, and it generated hydrate of cement, including portlandite, ettringite, and calcium silicate, etc. The compressive strength of the desulfurization absorbent prepared by CFBC fly ash and Ca(OH)2 was 72–92% that of the desulfurized absorbent prepared by using general cement as a binder. These absorbents were then compared in terms of desulfurization efficiency using a high-temperature fluidized bed reactor. It was confirmed that the desulfurization absorbents fabricated using CFBC fly-ash as a binder achieved the best performance in terms of absorption time, which reflects the time taken for them to remove over 90% of high-concentration SO2 gas, and the conversion ratio, which refers to the ratio of CaO turning into CaSO4.
Chemical experiment KS F 2545 and Physical experiment ASTM C 1260 has been accomplished to estimate the potential of alkali aggregate. Used for testing aggregate samples are forest aggregate and recycled aggregate which collected in Gangwon province Samcheok and Pyeongchang, Jeollabuk province Gimje and Kochang, and Gyeongsangnam province Goryeong. As the results of chemical experiment confirmed that if silicate rock and carbonate rock are mixed, reduction in alkalinity is increase. So it has been identified that case makes a disturb at the result of alkali aggregate reaction. In 9 out of the 62 aggregate samples check dissolved silica exceeding 100 mmol/ℓ. and mortar bar length increase rate confirmed that 5 of 9 chemical method aggregates were 0.1~0.2% and 2 aggregates were 0.2%. As a result of the alkaline aggregate reaction test using the chemical method and the mortar bar method, the aggregates showing alkali aggregate reaction are sandstone and tuff aggregates. Therefore, Alkali aggregate reaction tests are required to use clastic sedimentary rocks and volcanic pyroclastic rocks aggregates.
Theoretical reviews of integrated gasification combined cycle one of the clean coal technologies and trends in the study and technology development for high temperature desulfurization sorbents were investigated. Reactivity, durability and abrasion resistance is an important key for development of high temperature desulfurization sorbents, the kind of things include calcium, zinc, manganese, iron and copper-based sorbents. Current status of high temperature desulfurization sorbents, manufacturing techniques of zinc-based sorbent in advanced countries has commercialized. In case of Korea, various research studies are underway to commercialize the Zn and non Zn-based high temperature desulfurization sorbents to cheaper and superior capability using various supports.
-This study was carried out to physicochemical properties and free CaO contents of coal ash in domestic circulating fludized bed combustion power plant using ethylene glycol method. Results of physicochemical properties, there are many differences in CaO contents for the region position in CFBC plant. The reason, It is considered to be reflected that regulation of exhaust concentration for oxides of sulfur and other operation characteristics of region position in CFBC plant. Free CaO contents are 1.96 ~ 10.78% of fly ash and 0.07~4.24 % of bottom ash, fly ash is higher than in the bottom ash. besides CaO contents of raw materials, particle distribution have a lot of influence Free CaO contents.
This work investigated the cementation of iridium from iridium-containing hydrochloric acid leachate. Zinc powder was used as the reducing agent, and the effects of the stoichiometric ratio of Zn/Ir, initial Ir concentration, initial pH, reaction time, and ultrasound irradiation on iridium recovery were investigated. When only the stirrer was used for cementation, the iridium recovery increased with the addition amount of zinc, and the recovery of about 70% at 40 times the stoichiometric ratio of Zn/Ir. In contrast, when employing ultrasonic irradiation with stirring, the recovery of iridium decreased at 20 times or less the stoichiometric amount of zinc. The recovery of iridium increased at 40 times the stoichiometric ratio of Zn/Ir. This result may be due to the ionization of zinc and re-dissolution of iridium during the ultrasound irradiation treatment. When a combination of ultrasonic irradiation and stirring was used for cementation, the iridium recovery increased by more than 27% compared to that •
