Suddenly in March 2020 we found ourselves confined and isolated in our homes, due to a global health crisis arising from a pandemic, caused by the contamination of a virus called COVID-19. This health crisis also generated a crisis in the social determinants of health, especially those related to the economy, education and culture. But it also generated another crisis, the psychosocial crisis, where populations affected by the effects of mental damage caused by the pandemic and isolation, showed important signs of stress. It is in this scenario that the Integrative Community Therapy, previously carried out in person, is renewed and reinvented. This article reports on the experience of implementing the Integrative Community Therapy online in Brazil and presents the results of the Afinando Vidas Pole in the contribution of improving the quality of life and the individual and collective mental health of the Brazilian population.
The medical professional, undergoes many adaptations during the course of formation and after it. These adaptations can interfere in the quality of life and, consequently, in the organization of work process. Perceiving emotions helps in the mobilization to create internal resources and seek self-care strategies. This study reports the experience of using an Integrative and Complementary Practice; the Integrative Community Therapy (ICT), created by the psychiatrist Adalberto Barreto, is an instrument of Complementary Intervention of the Ministry of Health, used as a collective therapeutic action, exercised by community therapists. This technique aims to provide spaces for welcoming and sharing life, where it is possible to talk about the pains, problems and potentials of individuals and communities. This experience report presented a therapeutic intervention project, offered to students from the first to the sixth year of a medical course in the city of São Paulo. The conclusion of the proposal culminated in positive results in improving the quality of comprehensive, mental and emotional health of this public.
In the early morning of March 3, 2020, there was a landslide in Baixada Santista after heavy rainfall, causing the death of 45 people and many others. The Brazilian Association of Community Therapy (ABRATECOM) mobilized with the members of the centers near the accident, the "Instituto Afinando a Vida (IAV)" and the "CAIFCOM/Santos", who were responsible for collecting donations and making community therapy circles to welcome the homeless of this tragedy. This work was developed over two weekends by 15 community therapists from the cities of São Paulo and Santos, who held community therapy circles for survivors in the hostels and communities.
