Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) roots in the fresh form, are susceptible to postharvest physiological deterioration (PPD), thus reducing their economic value and farmer benefits. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of pruning and waxing on fresh root storability among cassava varieties in Uganda. Sixteen cassava plants per variety (TME 14, NASE 14, Nyaraboke, Kirimumpale, and Bukalasa) were pruned seven days before harvest, leaving the rest as unpruned controls. After harvest, roots were divided into two portions and one portion was waxed using food grade wax. Pruning alone reduced PPD of stored roots by 23% at day 14 of storage; and by 19% at day 28 compared with the control. Pruning as a treatment resulted into increased sugar content, ranging 9-30%), and significant (P<0.05) losses in starch yield. Pruning combined with waxing, resulted in a reduction of up to 43% in PPD by day 14, and up to 67 at day 28. Reduction in carbohydrate (starch) was not significant (P>0.05) under the pruning and waxing treatment, which had minor effects on stored root composition. The results indicate that pruning is appropriate for the short-term storage of fresh cassava roots for up to 14 days. Waxing, combined with pruning, is suitable for longer term storage up to 28 days under Uganda conditions.
Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh rendahnya motivasi belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah konsentrasi IPS Prodi PGSD. Salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi masalah ini adalah dengan penerapan strategi pembelajaran lightening the learning climate. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peningkatan motivasi belajar pada mata kuliah konsentrasi IPS Prodi PGSD dengan menggunakan Strategi Pembelajaran Lightening The Learning Climate. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dan dalam tiap siklus terdiri dalam dua pertemuan. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa Prodi PGSD dengan jumlah mahasiswa 40 orang. Sedangkan objek penelitian adalah upaya peningkatan motivasi belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah konsentrasi IPS. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, teknik angket dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data pada bab IV di atas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan strategi pembelajaran lightening the learning climate dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar mata kuliah konsentrasi IPS Prodi PGSD FKIP UMSU. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan meningkatnya motivasi belajar mahasiswa dari 25 indikator motivasi sebelum dilakukan tindakan motivasi belajar mahasiswa diperoleh rata-rata 56% berada pada interval 41-60 dengan kategori rendah. Terjadi peningkatan yaitu pada siklus I yaitu 68% berada pada interval 61-80 dengan kategori sedang. Sedangkan pada siklus II juga terjadi peningkatan dengan yaitu 81% berada pada interval 81-100 dengan kategori Tinggi.
Judul kegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) yang diusulkan adalah “Pelatihan dan Pendampingan Pembuatan Video Pembelajaran Menggunakan Aplikasi Android di Sekolah Dasar. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam rangka menyambut semakin berkembangnya model–model pembelajaran yang dapat diterapkan dalam mengajar sehari-hari. Selain itu guru juga dituntut dapat beradaptasi dengan kondisi dan situasi Pandemi Covid-19 dalam menerapkan model pembelajaran yang bervariasi. Kegiatan dalam pelatihan ini adalah guru-guru dari kedua sekolah yaitu SD Negeri 027977 Binjai dan SD Negeri 024183 Binjai yang akan diberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan dalam Pembuatan Video Pembelajaran Menggunakan Aplikasi Android mulai dari mendowload aplikasi di android kemudian menyiapkan model pembelajaran yang digunakan, konten pembelajaran, pengambilan data yang digunakan untuk pembelajaran kelas daring dan juga bahan ajar apa yang akan digunakan dalam membuat video pembelajaran. Guru juga akan diberikan Video Tutorial Youtube pembuatan video pembelajaran yang berisikan model- model pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan dan diterapkan menggunakan video pembelajaran dalam mengajar daring.
This study aims to determine the process of planting and growing mustard bok choy through hydroponics. Hydroponics is a system of cultivating plants without using soil as a medium for growing plants. Provision of nutrients needed for hydroponic cultivation of plants, essential nutrients both macro, and micro. Bok choy is a plant that has high economic value. The planting of bok choy mustard is carried out in Tanjung Balai City, Teluk Nibung District, Struggle Village. The process of planting mustard bok choy is carried out in the area where the researcher lives in June due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The time for planting mustard bok choy is carried out for approximately 40 days until the harvest. The interaction between the concentration of nutrients and the type of mustard affects the growth of mustard bok choy. The nutrients used for planting mustard bok choy are AB Mix nutrients. This study showed that the concentration of AB Mix nutrients given to the growth of mustard bok choy grew hydroponically
Abstract Coaching on the Utilization of Learning Media According to Student Needs for Paud Pak Basa Pangkalan Batu Pangkalan Susu Langkat Teachers. This community service program entitled " Coaching on the Utilization of Learning Media According to Student Needs for Paud Pak Basa Pangkalan Batu Pangkalan Susu Langkat Teachers " aims to improve the ability of Paud Pak Basa teachers in Pangkalan Batu Pangkalan Susu Langkat in developing instructional media in compliance with the needs of students. This activity involved partners, namely the teachers and students of Paud Pak Basa. This activity employed training method. The activity started with an initial visit to analyze the situation and needs of the teachers at the site. From the results of the visit, it was agreed that this activity was focused on increasing the ability of teachers in developing instructional media according to student needs. This activity held four meetings. Monitoring and assessment to follow up on the results of Community service activities is carried out at the end of the activity. The results show that after going through community service activities, the teachers are able to understand and implement the theory and techniques of developing learning media based on student needs.
