Other bioactive products U 1300 Medicinal Foodstuffs. Part 34. Structures of New Prenylchalcones and Prenylflavanones with TNF-α and Aminopeptidase N Inhibitory Activities from Boesenbergia rotunda. -Krachaizins A and B (I), their optical antipodes (II) and rotundaflavones Ia, Ib, IIa and IIb [cf. (II) and (III)] are identified. Some of them significantly inhibit TNF-α-induced cytotoxicity in L929 cells and inhibit aminopeptidase N activity. -(MORIKAWA, T.; FUNAKOSHI, K.; NINOMIYA, K.; YASUDA, D.; MIYAGAWA, K.; MATSUDA, H.; YOSHIKAWA*, M.; Chem. Pharm. Bull. 56 (2008) 7, 956-962; Pharm. Res. Technol. Inst., Kinki Univ., Higashi-osaka, Osaka 577, Japan; Eng.) -C. Cyrus 50-217
Other bioactive products U 1300 Medicinal Foodstuffs. Part 33. Gastroprotective Principles from Boesenbergia rotunda (Zingiberaceae) -Absolute Stereostructures of Diels-Alder Type Addition Prenylchalcones. -The methanolic extract from the rhizomes of the title plant exhibits potent inhibitory activities on ethanol-or indomethacin-induced gastric mucosal lesions in rats. Through the bioassay-guided separation, three new pairs of optically active Diels-Alder type addition prenylchalcones (I) are isolated together with a series of known compounds. Racemic panduratin A (Ib) and 4-hydroxypanduratin A (Ia) are responsible for the gastroprotective effects. -(YOSHIKAWA*, M.; MORIKAWA, T.; FUNAKOSHI, K.; OCHI, M.; PONGPIRIYADACHA, Y.; MATSUDA, H.; Heterocycles 75 (2008) 7, 1639-1650; Kyoto Pharm.
