The role of metacognitive awareness on language teaching and learning have been confirmed by several studies, but the discussions of this topic in Chinese as foreign language are limited. The aim of the present research was to map metacognitive awareness profile of Chinese language learners. Total respondent of this research was 80 Chinese language learners (38 males and 42 females) which comprise secondary students. Convenience sampling technique was employed to select the respondents. Meanwhile, the metacognitive awareness data were collected utilizing Junior Metacognitive Inventory. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistic. Mann-Whitney U Test was employed to investigate the significance differences of metacognitive awareness between male and female. The findings showed that 46.25% of Chinese Language Learners have a good metacognitive knowledge, 28.75% fair, 20% very good, 3.75% poor, and 1.25% very lacking. The finding also showed that 40% students have good metacognitive regulation, 36.25% fair, 15% very good, 7.50% poor, and 1.25% very lacking. In addition, between male and female students have no significant difference in knowledge of cognition. On the contrary, regulation of cognition female learners (Mdn= 32.50) significantly (U= 551.000, p0.05) better compared to male (Mdn= 30).
One of the religious therapies in the life of Muslims is ruqyah. Ruqyah is a prayer accompanied by dhikr to Allah Almighty by reciting the holy verses of the Quran and hadith. Ruqyah is used to cure mental disorders, physical illnesses, and other conditions. This study aims to learn more about ruqyah in Islam, which is used as an alternative treatment. The method used to prepare this article is a literature study from national and international scientific journals. The study results in a show that ruqyah can be done if it does not contain elements of shirk and is recommended as a treatment because the reading of ruqyah contained verses of the Qur'an as a cure for all diseases.
Arabic Language learning is now highly improved by Islamic and general schools. Certainly, the way of improvement needs a special method in its teaching to be gained well by the beginner of this study. From the interview done by the researcher, students of the first grade of Junior High School had very low Arabic reading ability so that they need certain teaching methods to equip them with good ability in Arabic reading skills. To overcome this problem, the researcher applied a teaching method by using vocabulary adapted from the “Look and Say” method by considering that this card is one of the media to improve the reading ability of students in the teaching process. This research focused on the effectiveness of vocabulary cards in improving reading ability in makhraj huruf pronunciation, vocabulary meaning mastery, type of sentence understanding, and word context understanding. This research used classroom action research which consists of two cycles in which every cycle has four steps: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The population of this research is the first grade of Junior High School students. The results of this research showed that vocabulary card application can increase their reading ability from their makhraj huruf pronunciation of vocabulary, vocabulary meaning mastery through its picture, sentence type understanding in jumlah ismiyah with ism isyarah, vocabulary context understanding which consists of shifah maushufah.
