In the realm of STEM education, various computer-based methodologies have been employed to invigorate student motivation, personalize learning experiences, and elevate the overall quality of education. However, the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) and smart tools for measuring parameters during educational research processes has garnered insufficient attention thus far. This neglect becomes all the more pronounced in light of the burgeoning popularity of personal smartwatches and bands among individuals. In this study, we develop innovative techniques for incorporating personal smart tools into STEM classes and research endeavors. By employing the Colmi Land 1, Xiaomi Mi Band, Samsung Smart Fitness Band, and Xiaomi Mi Smart Scale as testbeds, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation using the As Is – To Be Business Process Model and Notation method. The findings substantiate that our proposed methods exhibit superior efficacy compared to conventional educational processes. Moreover, this paper represents a pioneering effort in describing and offering ready-to-use techniques for utilizing personalized smart tools to measure parameters during experiments within educational contexts.

The educational system of Ukraine, like those of most countries in the world, was not ready for the long-term changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey of participants of the educational process revealed that 25% of secondary school students did not start the educational process at all for various reasons, which indicates the need to rethink and restructure the educational process based on new organizational and methodological approaches. The article presents the results of a study of the data of the survey “Challenges of distance learning” conducted by the Institute of Gifted Child of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine from 25.05.2020 to 10.08.2020 on determining the opinion of participants of the educational process in conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of the study was to determine the features of distance learning and identify the disadvantages and advantages of distance education for individual participants (parents, students, educators). The research used statistical methods: summarizing and grouping data and visualization methods for their presentation, the method of testing hypotheses using the chi-square criterion, as well as analysis of variance. Respondents evaluated the effectiveness of forms and means of distance learning for different age groups of secondary school students, in particular, the importance for the educational institution of a unified learning platform, resources, partnership, individual choice of forms and methods of distance learning by the teacher, reasonable workload, weekly planning. Educators evaluate the existing measures to improve the effectiveness of distance learning higher than students and parents. In general, parents' assessment of the effectiveness of remote forms and means is the lowest. The study identified gender characteristics of views on the quality of distance learning. In addition, the survey participants, based on their experience, outlined a vision for the future of the educational system.
Based on the standard of specialized education in the field of science, developed guidelines for the creation of educational programs. The organizational features of the educational program in the conditions of integration of formal and non-formal education, requirements to the obligatory results of training of applicants for mastering research competence, tools of internal quality assurance of education in the institution of specialized education are revealed. The Concept of international competition activities of the National Center “Junior academy of sciences of Ukraine” is presented. It is aimed at developing a system of selection, evaluation and training of Ukrainian students for their successful participation in international science fairs and other science and engineering competitions. In developing the Concept presented here (which can be considered a draft open for discussion and possible amendments), the authors used the international standards and their own experience in their participation in and organization of participation of Ukrainian students in national and international science fairs and other science and engineering competitions. The key provisions of the Concept are discussed, as well as its main components and aspects, such as: selection of international competitions for participation; national science fairs and other competitions and feeding fairs for international competitions; judging at the national competitions; evaluation of projects and selection of participants for the international level; national institutional coordination; the pre-competition training process for Ukrainian students, etc. The provisions of the Concepts form the basis for development of efficient educational programs for competitive selection, planning and implementation of various activities that will promote high-level achievements of gifted children and youth of Ukraine at the international/global level. Specific recommendations, rules and procedures for organizing participation of Ukrainian high school students in international science and engineering fairs and other competitions are outlined.
