Korea has entered an aging society as its average life expectancy increased, and by 2026, it will enter a super-aged society. The aging population has also increased rapidly, and the burden of caring for the elderly with senile diseases such as dementia and stroke is bound to increase, and the role of family members and caregivers is paramount. This study aimed to analyze dementia knowledge and its effects on the caring behavior and job satisfaction of care workers in charge of dementia patients. Data were collected from 346 care workers from December 1 to 30, 2020. Data were processed through frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, and correlation analysis by using an SPSS ver. 23.0 program. Simple and multiple regression analyses and three-step mediating effect analysis were performed to test the hypotheses. This study found that dementia knowledge affected caring behavior, dementia knowledge and caring behavior affected job satisfaction, and caring behavior had mediating effects on dementia knowledge on job satisfaction. The results of the study is intended to improve the quality of long-term care insurance services for the elderly and establish a stable long-term care insurance system for the elderly by introducing effective education methods and maintaining education.
Recently, the financial crisis of local universities due to the decrease in the number of students is emerging. The decrease in the number of students is due to a sharp drop in the enrollment rate for new students and an increase in the dropout rate. A university's financial income is highly dependent on tuition income, so a decrease in the number of students leads to a financial crisis. To overcome this, local universities are trying to prevent the dropout of students, but practical measures and research are still lacking. In particular, existing research on dropout focuses on identifying the determinants of all dropout students, so more specific research is needed on the major types and characteristics of dropout. This is because the characteristics of students dropping out for the purpose of transfer and those who drop out due to poor academic performance are different, and countermeasures must be different accordingly. Therefore, this study analyzed the main types and characteristics of dropouts targeting freshmen(22,415) of local private universities in the last 10 years (2011)(2012)(2013)(2014)(2015)(2016)(2017)(2018)(2019)(2020). First, by applying the heuristic mining algorithm of process mining, the major academic patterns of dropout students were visualized and analyzed. In addition, based on the analysis results, the main dropout types were divided into 5 types: 1)Immediate dropout type 2)Retake preparation type, 3)Transfer preparation type, 4)Academic abandonment type, 5)Long-term leave of absence type. It was confirmed that there was a difference in average grades, average enrollmet period, and number of academic warnings for each type. Unlike previous studies, these research results suggest that it is possible to establish a customized strategy for each type of dropout. In the future, it is expected that follow-up studies will be conducted on the detailed characteristics of each dropout type and whether the dropout rate is reduced.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
