Lexical cohesion has been a serious issue as it is one of the important features in a text. Every writer must consider kinds of lexical devices in writing a text and so do the translator. The main problem in translating the lexical cohesion devices is the different structure between two languages. One device can be applied in one language but not in other language. This journal analyzed the translation of reiteration as part of lexical cohesion devices appeared in the short stories The Black Cat and The Cask of Amontillado written by American writer, Edgar Allan Poe. The short stories were translated by two Indonesian translators namely Anton Kurnia and Shinta Dewi. This research is conducted to share the practice of translating literature works especially a short story which contains a lot of lexical cohesion devices and to give contribution to the development of translation as part of linguistic studies. In doing the research, qualitative and quantitative method is applied including observation, interviews, or document reviews. In the source text, it was found 120 of lexical cohesion devices in the short story ”The Cask of Amontillado” and 187 lexical cohesion devices in the short story “The Black Cat”. The results obtained from this research were that Anton Kurnia translated 73% of lexical cohesion devices in the source language into the target language. Meanwhile, Shinta Dewi translated 94% of lexical cohesion devices in the source text to the target text.
Purpose: This study aims to analyze the implementation of food safety on producing good food quality at Taco Casa Canggu in Bali, Indonesia, and what efforts are being made to ensure food safety in preparing good food quality in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. Research methods: A qualitative descriptive method is used to analyze the implementation specifically. Primary data were collected through interviews and observation. The research instruments used were an interview guideline and an observation checklist. Findings: The restaurant management had rearranged the standard operating procedure on food safety according to the Indonesian Minister of Health and the World Health Organization, transforming business from offline to online (O2O) by enhancing home delivery service and digitalizing their service and marketing. Implication: The restaurant management has added strict standard operational procedures on some aspects, such as performing body temperature checks for third parties and costumers and creating a planning meal timeline according to day-by-day service.
This research analyzed the methods applied in translating English short story “The Masque of the Red Death” into Indonesian by two Indonesian translators; Anton Kurnia and Shinta Dewi. In the action of pointing out the methods, the theory of translation method proposed by Newmark was the foundation of the study. The translation methods emphasize the source language and target language. Since translation is both a means of a process and a product, this study also analyzed the readability level of the two translation results. In order to assess the readability, this research involved 7 respondents. Every respondent filled in the questionnaire given related to the product of the short story with open-ended questions. Readability was measured using the theory of Readability stated by Nababan. The outcome gained from this research was different translation methods applied by the two Indonesian translators had affected the readability level as well as the sense of the short story by the target readers. According to the findings, the translation methods used by Anton Kurnia was dominated by free translation method. In contrast to Anton Kurnia, Shinta Dewi frequently adopted literal translation method. Although the distinction of readability level was not very significant between the two, the method which emphasized the target language culture indicated a higher level of readability than the method which emphasized the source language culture
