This article presents a research perspective that aims to explore religion as a basis for the construction of psychological knowledge. It is assumed that religious doctrine and practice have access to contents that pertain to local forms of human mental life. Taking into account the presuppositions of indigenous psychology has resulted in a proposal to extend scope of current academic psychology and combine knowledge provided by national/ethnic psychologies that are not identical to Occidental psychology. We propose ways of using the religious conception of soul and of religious rites of passage that correspond with real psychology and subjective understanding of humanity to reconstruct a local perception of human development. The pre-Christian religion of the Slavs will be used as an example. Public Significance StatementThis study presents the role of religion as a basis of psychological knowledge construction in the paradigm of indigenous (local) psychology, which is shown using pre-Christian Slavic religion as an example. It aims to enhance the understanding of human beings in their cultural context treated as the most adequate frame of psychological functioning descriptions.
Slavic Neopaganism (Rodnovery) is a new religious movement that forms part of Neopaganism. This phenomenon is defined in scientific literature as "Neopaganism"; however, the term itself does not precisely account for the differences that can be observed between Slavic Neopaganism and other Neopagan groups. Additionally, it raises objections on the part of Rodnovers themselves who, due to the Christian origin of the term "(neo)Pagans", do not want to be identified with it. 1 Regardless of how this movement is called, it constitutes an attempt to rebuild the ethnic, pre-Christian religion of ancient (early medieval) Slavs, taking into consideration its polytheism and rites, as well as the way of perceiving reality. 2 In this paper both the terms Slavic Neopaganism and Rodnovery are treated as synonyms. Information about the beliefs of remote ancestors is drawn by Slavic Neopagans from historical, archeological, and ethnographic sources. A scarcity of data forces the followers of Rodnovery to conduct reconstructions of religious content and to make generalizations based on preserved information. The religious current that can be encountered in all Slavic countries, despite the relatively small numbers of adher
The paper aims to study a problem of gender stereotypes present in the academic community, harming particular researchers (especially women). In the article chosen methods of stereotypes’ counteraction are focused and analysed in terms of their risks of stereotype preservation. The concept of feminatives as a proposition of gender equalization is reflected and presented from the perspective of their drawbacks in the field of social functioning. The gender stereotypes’ influence on research participants is treated as a special aspect of the problem, peculiarly in the area of human sexuality research due to specific feedback and results’ bias. The problem is analysed then both from the systemic (contextual) perspective of academia and the particular situation of research, showing that gender may but does not have to influence scientific work.

Podejście komparatystyczne umożliwia wskazanie bezpośrednich źródeł duchowości rodzimowierczej oraz określenie jej specyfiki zdeterminowanej cechami dystynktywnymi (wzorami kulturowymi i perspektywą czasową) doby ponowoczesności. Niniejsza praca prezentuje dawną i współczesną duchowość słowiańską w jej aspekcie poznawczym.
