The purpose of present study was intended to clarify the prediction of classroom engagement on mathematics achievement of senior and junior high school students. A correlational study design was applied with involving a total sample of 368 students (134 junior high school students and 234 senior high school students). Data were collected from Classroom Engagement Inventory and document of students' mathematics achievement and analyzed using moderator analysis technique. The results indicated that only disengagement negatively predicted mathematics achievement, whereas affective engagement, behavior engagement, and cognitive engagement did not significantly predict mathematics achievement. Furthermore, senior high school with lowest level of disengagement has the best opportunity to attain highest mathematics achievement. Discussion of these findings were intended to clarify strengthen and weakness of grading practices in high school.
Some Western counseling approaches are not applicable in local cultures. Consequently, counselors have to accommodate the local culture to improve the efficacy of their services. This research aims to formulate indigenous counseling based on the Javanese culture of Dasa Pitutur from Sunan Kalijaga. Using that culture, the counselors are expected to improve the participants' cultural skills and respect for other cultures. It used the hermeneutic method with discourse analysis to interpret the messages' structure and pragmatic. The analysis result signifies that the Dasa Pitutur values are relevant with the other group orientation. The primary message taught in Dasa Pitutur is encouraging humans to comprehend their life journey and position to willingly and voluntarily accept their obligations and nature. Linear to their position as a social creature, they have to be aware of the essential values from their relationship, dependency, and appreciation toward other humans. This study can be an enrichment material of cultural values-based guidance and counseling science.
AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan keefektifan layanan penguasaan konten dengan topik self-regulated learning untuk menurunkan tingkat prokrastinasi akademik siswa. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan desain one group pre-test dan post-test. Subjek penelitian ini adalah seluruh populasi siswa kelas X Is 3(N= 38 orang siswa). Data dikumpulkan menggunakan skala prokrastinasi akademik siswa dan dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif serta uji t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat prokrastinasi akademik siswa menurun secara signifikan melalui layanan penguasaan konten dengan menggunakan topic self-regulated learning (0,00<0,01) yang jika disimpulkan self-regulated learning efektif untuk menurunkan prokrastinasi melalui layanan penguasaan konten. AbstractThe purpose of this study is to prove the effectiveness of content mastery services with independent learning topics to lower the level of student academic procrastination. Type of research used is experiment with design one group pre-test and post-test. The subjects of this study are the entire population of students class X is 3 (N = 38 students). The research data used students' academic procrastination scales and analyzed using quantitative descriptive and t-test. The results showed that the level of academic procrastination decreased significantly through content mastery service using self-learning (0.00 <0.01) if be concluded if self-regulated learning is effective to down procrastination by using content mastery service.
ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh layanan informasi karier terhadap pengambilan keputusan karier siswa di SMA Negeri 1 Karangdowo. Jenis penelitian pre-eksperimental design One Group Pretest-Posttes Design. Populasi berjumlah 143 siswa. Berdasarkan analisis data dapat dijelaskan bahwa pengaruh layanan infomasi karier terhadap pengambilan keputusan karier siswa, dalam kategori rendah sebelum diberikan layanan informasi karier. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi untuk pengaruh layanan informasi karier terhadap pengambilan keputusan karier siswa adalah sebesar 0,000 < 0,05 dan nilai F hitung 0,666 > F tabel 0,374, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh layanan informasi karier terhadap pengambilan keputusan karier.Kata Kunci: kemandirian, layanan informasi karier, pengambilan keputusan karier.
