The known negative influences of weeping ± the simultaneous decrease of tray efficiency and the turndown ratio ± is opposed by the minimal vapor velocity (F min ). In spite of its practical significance no unanimity is formed about it. The reason for this includes the following: one method [1] considers only the hole diameter as a geometric factor, while an other method [2] ± based upon power equality ± uses an experimental correction value. The authors consider this correction value as an acknowledgement of the uncertainties of the mentioned method. The insufficiency outlined has to be eliminated here on a scientific basis.

Den bekannten negativen Auswirkungen des Durchregnens der gleichzeitigen Herabsetzung des Bodenwirkungsgrades und der Bodenelastizitat (turndown ratio) -tritt die minimale Dampfgeschwindigkeit (Fmin) entgegen. Trotz praktischer Bedeutung zeichnet sich dariiber noch keine Eindeutigkeit ab. Die Ursache liegt darin, daR die eine Methode [ 11 nur den Bohrungsdurchmesser als geometrische Ein-fluRgroRe berucksichtigt, wahrend eine andere Methode, die auf dem Kraftegleichgewicht basiert, einer empirischen Korrektur bedarf [2]. Diese Korrektur betrachten die Verfasser vorliegender Arbeit als ein Bekenntnis zu Unstimmigkeiten der erwahnten Methode. Die geschilderten Mange1 sollen hier wissenschaftlich fundiert behoben werden.
