Methods A prospective observational study was performed using a repeated measures design in children from 3-17 years in two intensive care and high-dependency units in Ireland. Interrater reliability was tested among nurses using linearly weighted kappa, Cronbach a was applied to test internal consistency of the COMFORT-B scale and concurrent validity involved comparing COMFORT-B with the FLACC and Numeric Rating Scale score of nurses.69 paired nursing assessments to test the interrater-reliability of the COMFORT-B scale was performed. With a high interrater-reliability of Cronbach 0.87, Single nurse observations were commenced of the COMFORT-B, NRS and FLACC/Selfreport scores at specific four-hourly intervals over the first 48 h of each admission. Results Data in 19 patients (age 3 to 17 years) was collected for the pilot study. Initial compliance of 4% increased to over 80%. Interrater reliability between COMFORT, FLACC and NRS remained high throughout the study. Conclusion The COMFORT-B is suitable for use in children and adolescents from 3-17years. BackgroundFor most of the physical illnesses, behavioral, emotional, cognitive and inter-personal reactions develop. These psychiatric conditions and reactions are actually the adjustment process of the organism.ObjectivesStudy is conducted in order to identify the psychiatric signs as well as findings of the patients who receive treatment in the general services of hospitals.MethodsThe study was carried out with a total of 500 patients who receive treatment in the general service of a hospital of a ministry of health in Turkey between February and May in 2015 by descriptive cross-sectional method. For collecting the data; patient charts, SCL 90-Rand general health questionnaire as well as hospital anxiety and depression scale were utilized. Kolmogorov Smirnov Normality test was applied for the average SCL90R and general health. Questionnaire, as a result of the test, it was detected that both scales did not meet the assumption of normality Therefore, Kruskal Wallis test of non-parametric was used.ResultsThe study showed no significant difference among the lengths of stay in the hospital according to the average SCL90-R and general health questionnaire It was observed that the patients in the cardiology, neurology, and plastic surgery departments had a higher rate of signs of obsessive compulsive disorders; that the patients in the plastic surgery and internal diseases departments had a higher rate of depressive signs; that the patients in the neurology and plastic surgery departments had a higher rate of paranoid ideation; and that the patients in the neurology service had a higher rate of psychoticism.ConclusionsOverall, it has been observed that the patients hospitalized in the neurology and plastic surgery services had more physiological signs compared to those receiving treatment in the other services.Disclosure of interestThe author has not supplied his declaration of competing interest.

Data were collected with Individual Information Form, Traditional Peer Bullying Scale with a face-to-face interview and analysed with descriptive statistics and chi-square test on computer. Findings It was determined that mean age of the students was 12.81 ± 0.93 years, of them 51.7% were girls, 12.0% did bullying and 15.9% were exposed to bullying (victim) while 15.1% were both bully/victim. Boys and 8th graders were found to bully more than girls (p th and 7th graders, respectively (p th grade and with a moderate level of economic status were found to be exposed to bullying more than 7th and 8th graders (p0.05). Conclusion and recommendations Consequently, bullying at schools is a serious problem and programs including students, teachers and parents about preventing bullying should be developed and generalised. Background and aims Although there is an increase in studies regarding child abuse and neglect, with studies on physical and sexual abuse taking lead, in the last ten years, there are very little studies on the long term effects of behaviour in schools that include emotional abuse. The attitudes and efforts of parents and teachers are very important in preventing such problems. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of perceived emotional abuse the children receive from parents and teachers on social skills in intermediate grade students. Methods The design of the study is descriptive. The cross sectional study was conducted with students in the 10-15 age category studying in two middle schools in Turkey between February-June 2013. The selection of the schools was determined by the reachable sample method. There was no sample selection in the study, and all of the students in the universe (n = 753) were included in the sample. Results It was also found in the study that there was an advanced relationship between the gender variable and the positive social behaviour score averages (p = 0.000), and that male students had a higher positive behaviour score average than female students. As it can be seen in Table 1, children took scores below average only from the MESSY scale, while their scores from the other three scales were above average. Conclusions There is a significant relationship between the social skill levels of children aged between 10-15 years and perceived emotional abuse by parents. Data analysis was done using the statistical package of social scientists (SPSS) computer. Inferential statistics were done by chi square and Fisher's exact to compare percentages and association between adherence to the ARH&D policy and HCP characteristics. Results The HCP adherence rate to the ARH&D was 62.2% while the adolescent client RH service satisfaction was about 94%. Parent participation in the nursing process significantly contributes to the overall wellbeing of a newborn and the whole family. It is important to ensure that nurses, who take care of newborns and collaborate with their family members, are well-acquainted with the influence that an infant's illness and critical condition as well as the stress have on the functioning of a family unit The Aim To compare parents' and nurses' perceptions of parents needs in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.The study was conducted in Kaunas University Hospital NICU. The sample consisted of 181 parents and 37 nurses. The NICU Family Needs Inventory was used for data collection. The instrument included five following subscales of needs: proximity, information, assurance, support and comfort. Reliability of the scale was identified as 0.94 using Cronbach's a.The parents' needs perceived by both groups were compared within the subscales. Using Mann'o-Whitney rank test the significant differences between the parents' and nurses' assessments of individual statements were identified. The majority of statistically significant differences between parents and nurses have been found in case of assessment of proximity (75.0%) and informational (72.7%) needs related to the possibility for parents to be close to their newborn and to receive timely and adequate information about their newborn's health condition. Parents, if compared to nurses, assessed these needs as more important. The assessment of support needs showed the lowest number of differences (38.9%). There was a statistically significant difference in case of the decision making needs related to the newborn care that parents identified as being more important. Nurses perceived as being more important the needs related to parent-toparent support and possibility to share feelings.The comparison of parents and nurses perceptions of parents needs in NICU showed that there are statistically significant differences of individual statements assessment within the all five subscales.
