The research results of the effect of essential oils on the human short-term image and numerical memory have been described. The study involved 79 secondary school students (34 boys and 45 girls) aged 13 to 17 years, residents of the Ukrainian metropolis. Participants were divided into three groups: the control group, ''Lavender" group, in which the lavender essential oil was sprayed, and ''Rosemary" group, in which the rosemary essential oil was sprayed. The statistically significant differences in productivity of the short-term memory of the participants of different groups have been found. Therefore, the essential oils of rosemary and lavender have significantly increased the image memory compared to the control. Inhalation of the rosemary essential oil increased the memorization of numbers, and inhalation of the lavender essential oil weakened this process.
The research results of the effect of essential oil of rosemary on the human short-term image and numerical memory have been described. The study involved 53 secondary school students (24 boys and 29 girls) aged 13-15 years, residents of the Ukrainian metropolis. Participants were divided into the control group and ''Rosemary" group, in which the rosemary essential oil was sprayed. The statistically significant differences in productivity of the short-term memory of the participants of these two groups have been found, while sex differences in uniform groups were absent. Therefore, the essential oil of rosemary has significantly increased the image memory compared to the control. Inhalation of the rosemary essential oil increased the memorization of numbers as well.
Now oysters are one of the most common representatives of aquaculture grown worldwide. Finding reliable ways to assess the quality of oysters is an important task for breeding professionals and users of these products. The Food and Agriculture Organization considers microbiological testing and organoleptic parameters as mandatory tests for evaluation of the mollusks’ safety. We believe these parameters in oysters are insufficient for unbiased evaluation of the condition of mollusks. In this research, we attempted to determine the most sensitive indices of oysters’ viability during hypothermic storage under anoxia conditions. We investigated the oysters during 6 days of their storage in a household refrigerator at a temperature of 5°C. According to microbiological studies, during the experiment, we expected a rise in the total number of microorganisms. However, there was a paradoxical situation when at the end of the observations the total number of microorganisms decreased significantly, which contradicted the negative assessment of the state of oysters by organoleptic parameters. Flow cytometry studies also showed no correlation between the percentages of necrotized and apoptotic cells to organoleptic parameters. Studies have shown that on day 3 of storage, the oysters demonstrated a partial deterioration in organoleptic characteristics, which is clearly reflected in the content of volatile basic nitrogen in the tissues of mollusks, which characterizes the protein breakdown and accumulation of toxic nitrogen compounds. Thus, the content of volatile basic nitrogen in the tissues of oysters is the most sensitive and significant parameter in terms of biosafety of mollusks. Keywords: hypothermic storage, oysters, microbial flora, food quality, nitrogen
This article presents results of comparison of efficiency of cryopreservation of sperm of a poultry on Belgorod and German technology and physiological features of sperm of males of birds of different kinds. Ejaculates from experimental birds were received 3 times a week by spin peritoneum massage. Efficiency of Belgorod technology of semen cryopreservation, which was modified by us for semen of birds, provided better physiological characteristics, separated ejaculates of poultry after thawing, than German technology. The mobility of rooster sperm after decontamination was 4.24 % higher than that of the German technology with an increase in membrane conservation by 8.6 %. Cryoresistance of quail semen was also higher at application of Belgorod technology by 3.24 % on mobility and by 3,26 % on membrane-stabilizing properties. The efficiency of guinea fowls semen cryopreservation according to Belgorod technology in lined granules was 4.44% higher than the German analogue in terms of sperm motility, 8.87% higher in terms of integrity of plasma membranes of germ cells. Physiological characteristics of thawed turkey semen, which was prepared according to the Belgorod technology, exceeded the German analogue by 7.04% in terms of mobility and by 2.65% in the integrity of the membranes of sperm cells.
Introduction: Distance learning is getting more and more popular all over the world and more recently it expanded into Ukraine. The objective of work was to clarify the experience of development and principles of the on-line course "Biology and Genetics Principles" for pharmacy students in one of the oldest universities of Ukraine-National University of Pharmacy. Methods: The study was conducted using the method of observation and analysis using modern IT technologies. Analysis was conducted based on the material of the current course "Biology and Genetics Principles" which is taught to the 1st year students of the major "Pharmacy" and was approved on 87 members of the audience within 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 academic years. Assessment: on-line course "Biology and Genetics Principles" was developed based on the platform Moodle; it consists of training, communication and control modules and is taught for a period of 12-23 days. Was exposed high satisfaction of the students with learning experience in the framework of the course (5 points under the 5-point scale) and quality of communication with the tutor and the group (4.9 points under the 5-point scale). Discussion: The developed system can serve not only for the needs of the educational process, but also as the base for scientific research of the efficiency of distance learning in the process of training of specialists, particularly, in the pharmaceutical industry.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
