Purpose of the study: The present study is concerned with words belonging to the realm of food and the naming process of the traditional culinary of Aceh Besar. This work presents the types of culinary naming of words naming and their meaning because different language communities can have different conceptualizations of word meaning. Methodology: This qualitative research uses ethnographic analysis. The data collection method uses in-depth interview and observation methods following the twelve steps of Spradley’s research called “Gradually Forward Research Flow”. Main Findings: The findings indicate that the naming of Aceh Besar culinary is a form of convention agreed upon as a form of common sense and the culture of community members in communicating. The types of the naming of the Acehnese culinary process namely are based on the following: (1) fictitious personality, (2) main material/ingredients, (3) color appearance, (4) cooking process, (5) similarity of appearance, (6) seasoning, (7) taste, (8) cookware, and (9) sound imitation. Applications of this study: the result of the study can be used by students and universities, especially the linguist in culinary linguistics area. However, it can be the prior study of Acehnese culinary in linguistics research. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research focused on the word and meaning of the culinary lexicon of Aceh Besar. Word and meaning are some of the fields of culinary linguistics which is the study of food in the perspectives of language. This study focused on the word and meaning which is one of the fields of culinary linguistics.
At the beginning of 2020, education in Indonesia implemented online learning to prevent the spread of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19). Students who take part in online learning have an increasingly high interest in learning, and there are also students who, since online learning is carried out, have less interest in learning. The research aims to find out students' interest in participating in online learning with learning outcomes that are held in the Basic Culinary Subject of the Culinary Department Odd Semester Academic Year 2020/2021. Quantitative descriptive research approach, sampling with saturated sample technique. Respondents totaled 37 people, namely class XI students who took Basic Culinary Subjects. Questionnaire data collection techniques, observation, documentation, and report cards. Descriptive data analysis and prerequisite test or normality test and linearity test. The study found a positive relationship between interest in online learning and learning outcomes in Basic Culinary Subjects, with a Pearson correlation value of 0.155 significance level of 0.498 > 0.05. This means that there is no correlation between interest in participating in online learning and student learning outcomes in basic culinary subjects in the culinary department at SMK Negeri 1 Takengon. It was concluded that the relationship between interest in online learning and student learning outcomes in the Basic Culinary Subject of the Culinary Department for the 2020/2021 Academic Year is weak.
Plants in Aceh Besar District are used as medicine, food and other consumer goods. Efforts to disseminate knowledge and use of medicinal plants are things that need to be done. One of the jobs that must be done before spreading the use of medicinal plants is by introducing them to the community. The purpose of the study was to determine the species of medicinal plants based on the parts of the plant organs used by the community and to determine the utilization and use of medicinal plants by the people of Aceh Besar district. Exploratory survey data collection methods and Participatory Rural Appraisal methods. Analysis of the data obtained was carried out descriptively with a quantitative approach. The results showed that the most widely used plant parts were the leaves and shoots (20.7%), while the plant organs that were the least utilized by the community were the bark and tubers (5.7%). The people of Aceh Besar District use medicinal plants by boiling, mashing, eating, squeezing, smearing, burning and slicing before serving. The people of Aceh Besar Regency are included in the community group that uses medicinal plants on a family scale.
