Objectives-To evaluate the influence of temperature of evaporation in adhesive systems with different solvents on the apparent modulus of elasticity and mass change of macro-hybrid layers modified by proanthocyanidins (PACs). Methods-Adhesive resin beams (A) from Single Bond Plus (SB), Excite (EX) and OneStep Plus (OS) were prepared after solvent evaporation at 23°C or 40°C (n=12). Macro-hybrid layers (M) (n= 12) were prepared using demineralized dentin beams sectioned from extracted human third molars. The demineralized dentin specimens were infiltrated with each one of the three adhesive systems at 23°C or 40°C; with or without prior dentin treatment with PACs for 10 minutes. The apparent modulus of elasticity (E) and mass change (W mc %) of adhesives beams and resin-infiltrated specimens were assessed in dry and wet conditions after immersion in water (24 h, 1, 3 and 6 months). The E was statistically analyzed by Tukey-Kramer test and the W mc % by Kruskal Wallis, and Dunn (α=0.05).Results-Solvent evaporation at 40 °C resulted in higher E values for adhesive resin beams at all storage conditions, regardless of the adhesive system (p < 0.05). Increased Mass Loss (3 months: −0.01%; 6 months: −0.05%) was observed in One Step resin beams (p ≤ 0.05). In the macro hybrid layer models the pretreatment with PACs along with solvent evaporation at 40 °C increased E and decreased the W mc % (3 months: −2.5; 6 months: 2.75%) for adhesives evaluated over time (p < 0.05). No significant differences in Ratio (resin/dentin) were found for the macro hybrid layers (p> 0.05). ABSTRACT:The aim of this research is to compare the fluorescence of different trademarks of composite resins under ultraviolet light, indicating through the optical characteristics the restorative materials that best mimic the properties of dental fluorescence. In this study, nine composite resin trademarks of EA2 color were evaluated, and ten test samples were prepared for each material, totalizing ninety specimens. The specimens were produced from a bipartite aluminium matrix (10x2 mm), and then stored for 24 h in tubes of radiographic films, immersed in distilled water and after 48 h it were polished. A blind-type study (four evaluators) was used and the samples were analyzed in a dark wooden chamber where it was coupled two black lamps. In the data collection phase, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, ANOVA and Post Hoc of Tukey were used (adopting a significance level of 0.05). It was noted that the composite resin of the trademark Ultrafill was more fluorescent and Luna was statistically less fluorescent than all other materials, while Opallis and Tetric were superior to Glacier. Após a conclusão do tratamento ortodôntico, os pacientes começam a se preocupar com outros fatores estéticos para garantir um sorriso harmonioso, sendo mais exigentes com a aparência. Além de dentes alinhados e harmoniosos, os pacientes estão em busca de um sorriso mais branco, se tornando cada vez mais exigentes com a aparência, cabendo ao dentista atender a essas necessidades. Um outro fator que pode tornar o sorriso antiestético é a presença de dentes curtos, que resulta em exposição excessiva da gengiva e um sorriso com aspecto mais infantil, e que muitas vezes é percebido apenas a finalização do tratamento ortodôntico. O objetivo do presente estudo foi revisar o tratamento estético do sorriso após ortodontia, associando cirurgia periodontal para aumento de coroa clínica e clareamento dental. O sorriso gengival pode ser corrigido integrando várias especialidades odontológicas devido às suas inúmeras causas, podendo ser indicada a realização de procedimentos cirúrgicos, ortodônticos ou restauradores. Quanto ao amarelamento dos dentes, uma das técnicas utilizadas é o clareamento dental, que consiste num procedimento pouco invasivo, indicado na maioria dos casos de manchas extrínsecas. O clareamento pode ser caseiro ou de consultório, mas em ambos os casos, o cirurgião-dentista precisa dominar a técnica. Nesse contexto, cabe ao ortodontista identificar e diagnosticar essas necessidades do paciente e encaminhá-lo para outros especialistas. Em conclusão, para alcançar os resultados esperados pelo paciente são imprescindíveis uma boa anamnese, um correto diagnóstico e o planejamento multidisciplinar do caso. Clareamento Dental. Abstract After the end of orthodontic treatment, patients become more rigorous with their appearance and worry about other aesthetic factors to ensure a harmonious smile. In addition to aligned and harmonious teeth, patients are looking for a whiter smile, becoming more and more rigorous with their appearance, leaving the dentist to meet these needs. Another factor that can impair smile aesthetics is the presence of short teeth, which results in an overexposure of the gum and a smile with a more childlike aspect, and that it is often perceived only at the end of orthodontic treatment. The aim of the present study was to review the aesthetic treatment of the smile after orthodontics, associating periodontal surgery to increase the clinical crown and tooth whitening. Aesthetics is the relationship between several factors. The gummy smile can be corrected by integrating several dental specialties, due to its numerous causes, and surgical, orthodontic or restorative procedures may be indicated. For tooth whitening, one of the techniques most indicated is dental bleaching, which consists of a minimally invasive procedure, indicated in most cases of extrinsic stains. The whitening can be made at home or in office, but in both cases, the dentist needs to master the technique. In this context, it is up to the orthodontist to identify and diagnose these needs of the patient and refer him to other specialists. In conclusion, a good anamnesis, a correct diagnosis and multidisciplinary case planning are essential to achieve the results expected by the patient.
