At an altitude of over 1200 m, the lake of Saint-Andéol is located in the middle of the pastures of the Aubrac plateau. With it is associated a text by Grégoire de Tours which evokes the existence of a church and alludes to numerous offerings traditionally made during an annual pilgrimage. A recent archaeological survey in the vicinity of the stretch of water localized the remains of a stone circle, of hillocks and of a fanum which confirm that this cult is inscribed in the longterm. For its part, an underwater intervention revealed protohistoric artefacts limited in number but very interesting. The study of these various finds is a contribution to the renewal of the knowledge of this exceptional site.
