Voltammetric behavior of methotrexate (MTX), an important chemotherapeutic drug, has been investigated using electrochemical methods: cyclic voltammetry, direct current voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry on a mercury meniscus modified silver solid amalgam electrode (m-AgSAE). The obtained results have been compared with those obtained using a hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE). The optimal conditions for its determination have been found in a Britton-Robinson buffer of pH 5 with the limit of detection equal to 1.8 nM. RSD at this concentration level amounted to less than 4 %. The proposed procedure of determination was verified on a real drug containing MTX.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
