“…The DL obtained in this work is in the same concentration level of Bandzuchovµ et al [23,24] using a meniscus or a polished silver solid amalgam electrode, suggesting that Ag-Hg intermetallic electrodes presents high sensitivity for the electroanalysis of FA and therefore can be used in many electroanalytical determinations to replace mercury electrodes (avoid the generation of toxic waste) and also provide a good alternative to the utilization of chemical modified electrodes (sometimes associated with time-consuming and laborious fabrication process).…”

“…There is only one work that determined FA in fresh orange juice (28.2 AE 1.3) mg/ 100 g, RSD = 1.3 %) without fortification using a calixarene based chemically modified electrode [32]. Table 2 shows a comparison between the results obtained in this study with those already published in the literature for the determination of FA in pharmaceuticals and fruit juices [11,14,15,23,24,[33][34][35][36].…”

“…Reported electrochemical techniques, used in determination of FA, together with various surface modification techniques and analytical performance were summarized by Mirmoghtadaie et al [15] Review reveals that besides all electrochemical techniques, voltammetry (square wave, differential pulse or stripping) is commonly used electrochemical technique. Although using of hanging mercury drop electrode [16,17,18] or mercury meniscus modified silver solid amalgam electrode [19] have great advantage concerning possibility of preconcentration (adsorption) before stripping thus achieving very low limits of detection, toxicity as well as poor reproducibility limits this methods for further development and application. By using of an "environmentally friendly" electrode material -bismuth (mostly as electrodeposited bismuth film as it is well known resemblance in electrochemical behavior between Bi and Hg) in electrochemical "stripping" analysis, [20,21,22] it is possible to overcome issues related to mercury based materials.…”
