PurposeWe aimed to build a model to qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate publications of research of spinal cord injury rehabilitation from 1997 to 2016.MethodsData were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection on October 6, 2017. We conducted a qualitative and quantitative analysis of publication outputs, journals, authors, institutions, countries, cited references, keywords, and terms by bibliometric methods and bibliometric software packages.ResultsWe identified 5,607 publications on rehabilitation of spinal cord injury from 1997 to 2016, and found that the annual publication rate increased with time. The Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation published the largest number of literature, the most active country was USA, the most active institution was University of Washington, and Post MWM was the leading author. Keyword analysis indicated that life satisfaction, muscle strength, wheelchair training, walking, gait, and others were the hot spots of these research studies, whereas classification, exoskeleton, plasticity, and old adult were research frontiers.ConclusionThis bibliometric study revealed that research on rehabilitation of spinal cord injury is a well-developed and promising research field. Global scientific research cooperation is close. However, higher quality research is needed. Our findings provide valuable information for researchers to identify better perspectives and develop the future research direction.
Background Colleges and universities in China have offered courses based on online teaching platforms as required by the Ministry of Education since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. This emergency action was not an expedient measure, but a powerful impetus to improve extant education and implement teaching reform. Oral histopathology is a basic subject in oral medicine education, which combines theory with practice. The course aims to improve the ability of students to observe, think, analyze and identify oral diseases. Method We adjusted and modified the original Bridge-In, Outcomes, Pre-assessment, Participatory Learning, Post-assessment, and Summary (BOPPPS) teaching method to fit the characteristics and needs of oral histopathology. We then combined the characteristics of Small Private Online Courses (SPOCs) and a Flipped class to complete teaching material online, and assessed the effects of such teaching using a questionnaire and interviews. Fifty 5th-year undergraduates in stomatology at the School of Stomatology of Harbin Medical University of China participated in online classes. All were in the junior second half of the semester at the beginning of 2020. Teachers investigated from various medical colleges were responsible for delivering courses associated with stomatology or ophthalmology. Result & conclusion The results showed that the modified BOPPPS combined with SPOC and the Flipped class improved teaching satisfaction. Modified BOPPPS combined with SPOC and the Flipped class is a useful complement to offline teaching on 5th-year undergraduate oral histopathology learning in China during COVID-19, and it can meet the multiple needs of students participating in the course.
Corydalis yanhusuo W. T. Wang (Papaveraceae) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine that has long been used to treat several conditions and is widely distributed in Asian countries. This review focuses on the traditional uses, botany, phytochemistry, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and toxicology of C. yanhusuo. The literature on C. yanhusuo was reviewed using several resources, including classic books on Chinese herbal medicine and scientific databases, namely, PubMed, Springer, Web of Science, Science Direct, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure. Based on information from these databases regarding the chemical components of C. yanhusuo, we evaluated the underlying interaction network between chemical components, biological targets, and associated diseases using Cytoscape software. To date, more than 160 compounds have been isolated and identified from C. yanhusuo, including alkaloids, organic acids, volatile oils, amino acids, nucleosides, alcohols, and sugars. The crude extracts and purified compounds of this plant have analgesic, antiarrhythmic, and antipeptic ulcer properties, along with hypnotic effects. However, studies on the pharmacokinetics of C. yanhusuo extracts remain limited. C. yanhusuo has therapeutic potential in diseases such as cancer and depression, probably due to glaucine and corydaline. Our network pharmacology analysis revealed interactions between 20 compounds, 54 corresponding targets, and 4 health conditions. We found that leonticine, tetrahydroberberine, and corydalmine may regulate the expression of PTGS2, PTGS1, KCNH2, SCN5A, RXRA, CAMKK2, NCOA2, and ESR1, representing a potential treatment strategy against pain, gastric ulcers, inflammation, and cardiac arrhythmias. Additionally, this article discusses the future directions of research on C. yanhusuo.
