RESUMOA gestão dos resíduos sólidos urbanos é um desafio ambiental que deve ser realizado de forma integrada, em que a responsabilidade é compartilhada entre os gestores públicos e os cidadãos. A proposta deste estudo foi conhecer o comportamento de disposição dos resíduos sólidos e de reciclagem por homens e mulheres visitantes de uma feira universitária. Trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória, em que participaram 182 pessoas, de ambos os sexos, com idade entre 18 e 65 anos. O instrumento utilizado baseou-se nas categorias: limpeza urbana e reciclagem da Escala de Comportamento Ecológico. A incidência de comportamentos pró-ambientais mostrou-se relacionada à preocupação em depositar de maneira adequada os resíduos sólidos em via pública, o que revelou uma atitude favorável ao meio ambiente. Em contrapartida, a separação dos resíduos sólidos domésticos mostrou-se discrepante, segundo o gênero, com resultados mais negativos aos homens, sinalizando a necessidade de incrementar a sensibilização ambiental em campanhas comunitárias. GENDER AND ENVIRONMENTAL ATTITUDES OF RECYCLING AND URBAN CLEANING: A EXPLORATORY STUDY IN A UNIVERSITY FAIR ABSTRACT:The management of solid waste is an environmental challenge that must be carried out in a integrated manner, in which responsibility is shared between public managers and citizens. The aim of this study was to know the behavior of solid waste disposal and recycling by men and women of a University fair visitors. This is an exploratory research, attended by 182 people, of both sexes, aged between 18 and 65 years. The instrument used was based on categories: urban cleaning and recycling of the scale of Ecological Behavior. The incidence of pro-environmental behavior was related to the concern in deposit properly the solid waste in public, wich showed a favorable atitude to the environment. However, the separation of domestic solid waste was showed to be discrepant, according to gender, with more negative results to men, signaling the need to increase environmental awareness in community campaigns.
