Transient transfection assayThe constructs contained 578 bp from IGF2 intron 3 (nucleotides 2868-3446), followed by the IGF2 P3 promoter (nucleotides 2222 to þ45 relative to the start of transcription) 12 and a luciferase reporter. C2C12 myoblast cells were grown to approximately 80% confluence. Cells were transiently co-transfected with the firefly luciferase reporter construct (4 mg) and a Renilla luciferase control vector (phRG-TK, Promega; 80 ng) using 10 mg Lipofectamine 2000 (Invitrogen). Cells were incubated for 25 h before lysis in 100 ml Triton lysis solution. Luciferase activities were measured using the Dual-Luciferase Reporter Assay System (Promega). The results are based on four triplicate experiments using two independent plasmid preparations for each construct. Statistical analysis was done with an analysis of variance.
A chameleon under pressure: The observed piezochromic behavior of the title compound (BP2VA) was found to depend on its molecular aggregation state and specifically on the strength of the π–π interaction between the anthracene rings of adjacent molecules. When BP2VA is ground or placed under pressure, its molecular aggregation state changes, and a red shift in the fluorescence emission from green via orange to red occurs (see picture).
An ongoing outbreak of 2019‐nCoV pneumonia was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei province, China at the end of 2019. With the spread of the new coronavirus accelerating, person‐to‐person transmission in family homes or hospitals, and intercity spread of 2019‐nCoV occurred. At least 40,261 cases confirmed, 23,589 cases suspected, 909 cases death and 3444 cases cured in China and worldwide 24 countries confirmed 383 cases being diagnosed, 1 case death in February 10th, 2020. At present, the mortality of 2019‐nCoV in China is 2.3%, compared with 9.6% of SARS and 34.4% of MERS reported by WHO. It seems the new virus is not as fatal as many people thought. Chinese authorities improved surveillance network, made the laboratory be able to recognize the outbreak within a few weeks and announced the virus genome that provide efficient epidemiological control. More comprehensive information is required to understand 2019‐nCoV feature, the epidemiology of origin and spreading, and the clinical phenomina. According to the current status, blocking transmission, isolation, protection, and alternative medication are the urgent management strategies against 2019‐nCoV.
